Position Description:

Great opportunity for a Biotech/Pharmaceutical experienced, Associate Director, Project Managerto oversee oncology drug development projects and manage a PM team. This position is office based located in Alameda, CA.

The Associate Director develops and maintain project plans, Gantts/timelines, status reports, strategic development and filing plans in collaboration with team leaders and cross-functional members of teams. Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing oncology drug development projects (IND-enabling, Phase 1 to 3, NDA/BLA filing submissions) and serves as liaison between project teams and executive management.

Position Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Acts as a Project Manager (PM), responsible for directly managing several clinical development projects and providing direction, management, and assistance to the Project Team Leader (PTL) and multiple sub-teams from those projects.
• Works on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
• Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Develops and maintain project plans, timelines, strategic development plans and development product profiles in collaboration with team leaders and lead cross-functional members of teams.
• Coordinates communication within the organization as well as external business partners, consultants or CROs.
• Supports PTL in representing the project team to senior management and provides communication link between the team and the Management Committee through written/verbal updates and presentations.
• Acts as point of reference between the Clinical Operations Study Teams and Project Teams.
• Ensures uniform processes/documentation between projects.
• Provides decision making methodologies, identifies bottleneck and inconsistencies within interdependencies and facilitate brainstorming with the teams to help identify project issues and resolutions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervision of Project Manager(s) is required in some programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Education:
• BS/BA degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience; or,
• MS/MA degree in related discipline and eight years of related experience; or,
• PhD in related discipline and five years of related experience, or;
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require certification in assigned area.

Experience:
• Typically requires a minimum of fourteen years of related experience and/or combination of experience and education/training.
• Experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferred in one or more areas associated with drug discovery/development.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent understanding of MS Office Suite required.
• Excellent understanding of MS Project or equivalent Gantt tools.
• Excellent understanding of the full Drug Development process (oncology is preferred).
• Has extensive experience in relevant industry/profession.
• Uses broad expertise or unique knowledge and skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
• Identifies and implements methods, techniques, procedures and evaluation criteria to achieve results.
• Leads or manages the work of others by providing guidance to subordinates or teams based on organizational goals and company policy, with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Has complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
• Has excellent knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Applies strong analytical and business communication skills.

JOB COMPLEXITY:
• Works on very complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
• Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
• Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results.
• Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
