Overview

Due to regulations, SJS Executives will require the candidates to be fully vaccinated for this position. Candidate must be fully vaccinated or be willing to be fully vaccinated by date of hire.

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, safety conscious, experienced, Plumber to work full time for SJS in Phoenix, AZ to help support operations at a Phoenix based medical facility.

The Journeyman Plumber must possess these key qualifications to be eligible for this job:

  • A minimum of 4 years of verified experience as a commercial plumber; OR
  • Arizona Commercial Plumbing License (L-37) or equivalent

  • Hours are:

    Mondays through Fridays during the following hours excluding federal holidays (11 total, paid):

    Shift 1: 6:00am to 2:30pm (includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)

    Shift 2: 9:00am to 5:30pm (includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)

    SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

    The right candidate will have strong working knowledge of commercial plumbing standards with over 4 years of commercial experience.

    This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal employees and service members.

    Responsibilities


    • Troubleshoot and repair various plumbing systems and equipment including medical air, medical oxygen, medical vacuum, nitrous oxide, waste and vent systems, domestic hot and cold-water piping, hot water heaters, water softeners, reverse osmosis units, steam and condensate systems, utility air systems, domestic water booster pumps, sewage ejection pumping systems, commercial kitchen and building service equipment.

    • Repair manual and automatic faucets, toilets, flushometers, bed pan washers, urinals, sinks, patient tubs and showers.

    • Troubleshoot equipment that fails tests and inspections and correct the causes to industry standards for the healthcare industry

    • Interpret and apply building plans and blueprints, and to use shop mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles. The plumber shall possess skills in any of the accepted trade methods and techniques, for example, calculating pipe, joint, and valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems; and aligning pipes, valves, fittings, and joints for accurate match. They shall understand the installation of proper braces and supports to control movement and vibration and to allow for expansion and contraction. They shall also have skills in the use of tools and equipment, such as sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, chalk lines, plumb bobs, templates, star drills, grinders, flanges, hand and power pipe threaders and cutters, and pipe wrenches.

    • Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and where systems and equipment are located in hard-to-reach places. This requires the plumbers to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The plumbers frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, the plumbers may lift and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds.

    • As a journeyman, the plumber is expected to complete assignments with little technical guidance using their experience and extensive knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems to complete work independently, or as a team member for larger, more complex assignments. The work is required to be completed within industry standards; and, the employee is responsible to conduct and evaluate all tests to ensure quality control for the work that is completed.

    • Work is done inside and outside under usually dirty, dusty, and greasy conditions. The plumber will sometimes be required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. They are occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones.

    • Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and organizational safety guidelines to include required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures


    Qualifications


    • 4 or more years of experience as a Journeyman level Plumber

    • Must have Arizona Commercial Plumbing License (L-37) or equivalent

    • Required to have working knowledge of installation and operation of water and waste piping systems.

    • Have the ability to plan and lay out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment. For example, they must be able to lay out and install various kinds of piping, risers, and flexible branches at the proper level and incline; determine the placement and elevation; install vacuum and condensate pumps; and replace automatic and manual control valves.

    • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
