WHO YOU ARE


As a Maintenance Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in facility for the production of lawn and garden tools. Strong skills for hydraulics, millwright and electrical are preferred.


WHERE YOU WILL WORK


AMES - Camp Hill, PA facility.  Our 500,000 ft2 facility is in close proximity to Harrisburg with easy access to Interstate Highways 81 and 83.


(We manufacture shovels, snow shovels, rakes, garden pots are more at this facility)


WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Inspect and test machinery and equipment for proper operation, wear and repair requirements

  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine

  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts

  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery

  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment

  • Perform general tasks on heavy mechanical installations and repairs

  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment

  • Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers

  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools

  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts

  • Ability to prioritize maintenance issues working in a rapid paced environment

  • Complete work orders by priority to ensure efficient operations

  • Work and communicate in a professional manner with all business associates

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Follow the required standard work and achieve the published standard work goals

  • Work and communicate in a professional manner with all business associates

  • Follow all Ames True Temper Policies and Procedures

  • Initiate and participates in continuous improvement through cost savings, gainsharing and kaizen or other related activities

  • Follow all safety policies & procedures; including, but not limited to wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE)

 REQUIREMENTS



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must possess strong basic shop math skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Basic computer skills with internet experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude/ability with working knowledge of production equipment using hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical power and controls.

  • Previous experience in general maintenance and equipment repair preferred

  • Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance disciplines

  • Knowledge of TPM methodologies and procedures

  • Knowledge of Lean Principles, QDC, 5S and Continuous Improvement Process

Certificates/Licensure



  • Lock-Out/Tag-Out certification

  • Pass and maintain current industrial fork lift & man lift certifications

  • Pass and maintain NFPA 70E

  • Pass and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
