Process Optimization Engineer II

Position Overview:

Use engineering knowledge and experiences to continually optimize and improve processes and activities at operating facilities and work with support functions through performance testing, monitoring and data analysis. Build and test simulations on improvements to test key input variables. Communicate changes to leadership, implement changes, and transfer ownership of changes to members. Work with multiple functions on analysis and facilitation requests.

Responsibilities:

• Drive improvements in safety, quality, yield and efficiency across multiple facilities. Working with team members to trouble shoot problems across the network.
• Serve as a technical resource to manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing, and R&D.
• Participates on cross-functional teams for the on-going improvement of equipment and processes and other assignments.
• Conduct Continuous Improvement statistical analysis and simulation studies as needed, using software such as Minitab, Glentech or Arena or others.
• Build network with Operations, Quality, R&D, Procurement and Engineering to ensure successful implementation of Process Optimization projects.
• Engage members in data collection and tracking of savings.
• Provide members with clear measurement and tracking tools to aid in the ownership of changes.
• Monitor sustainment of process changes.
• Make recommendations for use of equipment and improving equipment. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinates processes with affiliates network-wide to achieve optimum efficiencies and yields.
• Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, Food Science or other related field required
• Six Sigma and/or lean certification preferred

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Process Optimization and Simulation software preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Statistics, Statistical Process Control and/or Six Sigma Math with demonstrated results
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab and Visio)
• Leadership and facilitation skills
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Ability to teach and transfer knowledge of process changes
