What You’ll Do

Discovery Education seeks a dynamic Video Producer/Editor to join an innovative, creative team that produces an expansive range of award-winning K-12 programs and educational content videos.

The Video Producer/Editor is an experienced storyteller who knows how to create videos that engage and inspire K-12 students, drive learning outcomes for teachers, and enhances the educational profile and brand affinity of CEP clients. This person is a creative, energetic self-starter with significant experience producing, field producing, directing, and writing.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative professional who enjoys creative brainstorming, is responsive to feedback from clients, manages schedules and budgets effectively, writes engaging concept briefs and scripts, directs and/or shoots on-location and in-studio productions, and oversees all facets of the pre-production, production, and post-production creative process.

Discovery Education produces an array of short, medium, and long educational videos, including instructional content, career profiles, virtual field trips, merchandising content, webinars, social promotional videos, and other forms of digital storytelling. Our corporate partner programs are diverse, so the ability to think and execute across disciplines and subject areas is key – every day is a different adventure.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and write concept briefs that contain a mission statement, story outline, look-and-feel description, and proposed production schedule.
  • Create and manage all facets of production including handling client brainstorms and meetings, conducting pre-interviews and interviews with talent, scripting, casting, sourcing locations, and directing and/or filming talent and crew on-location or in-studio.
  • Oversee editing and post-production, with strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe Creative Cloud products.
  • Oversee and execute on changes to scripts and edits based on client feedback.


Who You Are

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 8 -10 years of professional experience as a video producer, director and writer, preferably for an agency or video production company.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Production, TV & Film, Communications, Advertising/Marketing, or similar fields or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of digital formats, experience with Mac office suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, proficiency with project management tools, such as Asana, a plus.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects), the ability to write, develop, and implement creative briefs, scripts, schedules, and budgets of various scopes and sizes.
  • Some U.S. travel required, approximately 30%-40% and varies based on workload, evening/weekend work as needed. Video work will occur both on-location and in-studio.
  • Always willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to understand, accept and engage with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • A sense of humor because we all need to laugh sometimes.
