Position Overview

Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking to fill the role of Service Delivery/ Service Desk Technician to join the Technical Services Delivery Team of the Office of Information Technology. Reporting to the Technical Service Delivery Team Lead in the Office of Information Technology, the successful candidate will serve the members of the College community by providing innovative solutions, enabling technologies, guidance, troubleshooting and training to support the actions, activities and mission of the College.

Nearly every dimension of the College is dependent on technology and it is the role of the Technical Services Delivery Team to remove obstacles, solve problems and enable our students, faculty, staff, administration and members of the monastic community to be effective at their work and activities.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities

We support the College by understanding and anticipating the technology needs of the community and providing effective solutions to support those needs. This includes:


  • Providing technology (computers, devices, network and other equipment) and solutions (services and software) to support the diverse needs of the community.

  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and diagnosing software and hardware issues.

  • Evaluating hardware, software and services solutions to improve the support to the College.

  • Leveraging a variety of support technologies to enable the management of operating systems, security, distribution of software, management of files/data and keeping track of the service request needs of the members of the community.

  • Supporting academic technology needs for faculty and students. This includes classrooms, labs, specific course-level faculty and student needs and the specific technology needs of some academic departments.

  • Effectively solving problems that include seeking to understand root causes, seeking solutions and implementing changes to address the process or issues at the source of the issue.

  • Communicating with the members of the community to ensure there is a clear understanding of the best practices and approaches for meeting the technology needs of the College.

A successful member of this team will be on a first-name basis with the faculty and staff of the College and will have a keen understanding of the variety of technology needs of the College and the specific needs of the various departments and offices on campus. They are a vital part of the life of the community because they enable others to be successful at what they need to do by enabling the effective use of technology.

Qualifications


  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience OR a combination of training, education, and experience.

    • Technology certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Google IT Support Certificate) can also be used to demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities OR

    • Associates / Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or relevant technical experience.


  • Eagerness and openness to learning new technologies and technical solutions.

  • Strong communications and personal interaction skills. This include the ability to work with technical and non-technical users.

  • Strong drive to provide excellent service and experience to those we support. This includes an awareness of needs and constraints, possible solutions, prioritization of tasks and effective communications to all involved.

  • Resourcefulness and quick-thinking nature to troubleshoot new and critical technical issues as they arise.

  • Good problem-solving, analytical and team working skills.

  • Solid base of technical knowledge and skills in computer hardware repair, upgrade and installation including proficiency with tools, diagnostic equipment and software.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills, a thorough understanding of personal computer hardware and software, knowledge of Windows, Mac and other relevant operating environments.
