Position Overview

Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking to fill the role of a Systems and Solutions Data Specialist to join the Office of Information Technology as part of the Information Systems and Services Team. Located at the Saint Anselm College campus in Manchester, NH, this is a new role that will focus on the data management strategy, business process improvement and data reporting and analysis needs of the College.

A multi-year technology solutions modernization effort for the College is currently underway. This is an opportunity for the College to focus on process improvement, data management, and data governance improvements to empower data-driven decisions across the institution. We are seeking to write the book on effective data management, administration, and operations management for a small college. As we modernize the technology solutions to support the mission of the College, we are seeking to augment our technology services team with an innovative, creative and forward-thinking data specialist. This person should seek to design, create, support, curate and maintain secure and highly effective administrative and operational processes in support of a complex suite of on-premise, cloud, and service provider solutions. We are seeking someone who will be an integral part of the transformation that is currently underway and continuing for the foreseeable future.

Our mission is to create and support a comprehensive portfolio of services for students, faculty, and staff in direct support of teaching, learning, academic excellence, student life, administration and operations of the college. Nearly every dimension of the college is dependent on data and it is the role of the Systems and Solutions Data Specialist to collaborate and lead improvements, remove obstacles, and solve problems to enable our faculty, staff, and leadership to leverage data for the planning and administration of the College.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities

The Office of Information Technology supports the College by understanding and anticipating the process, data, systems and technology needs of the community and by providing effective solutions to support those needs.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include Systems Administration and Operations Analyst:


  • Work collaboratively with academic departments, administrative, and technology offices to determine how data analytics and reporting solutions can enhance their business processes.

  • Seek to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the administration and operational aspects of the College in regards to the data and technology environments

  • .Be an active participant and leader in the data and process governance of the College.

  • Apply technical and non-technical judgment to solve a wide range of process and data issues, and lead and support the development of practical and effective solutions.

  • Consult with all levels of administration and staff to help them solve problems and contribute to impactful organizational, process and system changes through the expert analysis and presentation of data.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create improved outcomes that will enhance operations through process improvement, data reporting, data sharing, and make changes to increase the efficiency of processes.

  • Develop and optimize data transformations from a variety of enterprise and local sources to prepare data for various system migrations, process management, and reporting needs.

  • Support College leadership and administrators to provide data, reports, graphs, and dashboards, making sure that proper data governance and access controls are in place to secure and protect data assets.

  • Perform data analysis utilizing appropriate analytic methodologies to foster data-driven decision-making by providing valuable analytics to support College leadership.

  • Evaluate systems, solutions, and services to improve the support to the College.

A successful member of this team will be constantly focused on continuous improvement of the data and process management in support of the mission of the College. They will have a keen understanding of the variety of data and process needs of the College and the specific needs of the various departments and offices on campus. They are a vital part of the life of the community because they enable others to be successful at what they need to do by enabling the effective use of data.

Qualifications


  • Bachelors or Masters degree OR combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive experience in a wide variety of aspects of the academic and business operations of a college or university environment.

  • Experience with process improvement and data management methods and strategies in complex organizations.

  • Experience and working knowledge of any variety of tools and environments for data management, data reporting, process management, data analytics and data modelling.

  • Strong process assessment and data assessment skills and discipline for improving in a logical and systematic manner is a must. Resourcefulness and a strategic thinking nature to address new and critical issues as they arise.

  • Strong communications and personal interaction skills. This includes the ability to work with technical and non-technical users.

  • Strong drive to provide excellent service and experience to those we support. This includes an awareness of needs and constraints, possible solutions, prioritization of tasks and effective communications to all involved.

  • Good problem-solving, analytical and team working skills.

  • Eagerness and openness to learning new technologies and technical solutions.
