VP, Head of Global Compensation & Employee Relations at Cigna in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

The VP, Global Head of Compensation & Employee Relations is responsible for putting the employee at the center of our workplace. This role requires a deep understanding of the needs and expectations of employees' at the most foundational level pertaining to their pay and the policies and practices they can expect as an employee. This role will oversee the strategic connections and interdependencies between compensation strategy and employment policy and practices. This leader should deeply understand the connection between employee experience and business outcomes and will partner closely with enterprise leadership and COE leadership to support a holistic employee experience that reflects Cigna's value and contributes to our long term success. This role will sit on the COE leadership team and oversee the Employee Relations (ER), Labor Relations (LR) and broad-based Compensation functions, reporting to the SVP of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify long-term strategies within the compensation and policy environment leveraging market and industry research.

  • Work with executive leadership and senior management to develop compensation & policy solutions, in line with business strategy to meet organizational needs

  • Lead the strategic development of employee experience programs with an aim to connect Cigna's business strategy, culture, and values to pay and employee policy.

  • Partner with COE leadership and Communications to amplify, internally market, and increase engagement in our core workplace programs.

  • Work collaboratively with multiple partners across the business including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Talent Strategy & Wellbeing, HR Operations, DEI, Legal, and Global Real Estate. Provide consultancy and advice on compensation and policy.

  • Establish a standard set of measures that correlate compensation and policy to employee experience and ensure the organization is held accountable to meet these standards.

  • Provide leadership across the ER/LR and Compensation COE with a focus on talent development and career growth.

Qualifications:


  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Compensation, Employee Relations or Employment Law.

  • In-depth knowledge of human resources and labor relations principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Strong analytical skillset with experience using data to drive decision making.

  • Demonstrated experience articulating a vision and translating it into an executable strategy.

  • Ability to interact and lead at an executive/strategic level.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship management and influencing skills.

  • Proven track record in successfully building and maintaining employee programs that drive employee satisfaction, connectivity, and engagement.

  • Superior leadership skills.

  • Passionate about building an inclusive culture and able to demonstrate our Cigna values in an on-going and consistent way.

  • Demonstrated experience with strategy and design working across different geographies and employee segments.

  • Sound knowledge of HR information systems and reporting tools.

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA or JD preferred.

This role is located onsite which expects most work to be performed at a Cigna office location, but may allow for some work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite. Currently, due to the pandemic, we are encouraging all employee to remain working from home and all onsite meetings require a virtual option. However, we expect that this role will likely return to being performed primarily at an office location.
