AMETEK Process Instruments is looking for a custom projects engineer to join our team.
The ideal candidate will:
Responsibilities/Roles:
Lead process/industrial analyzer application evaluation, design, and testing for customers in the refining and petrochemical markets
Design analysis methods and analyzer calibration protocols; oversee calibration testing
Team with other engineers to design custom analyzers which meet targeted specifications and delivery schedules
Collaborate with sales on the application of all standard and custom analyzer products.
Assist Technical Sales with the cost of custom analyzer and system packages
Provide engineering or scientific assistance to other departments for product design, testing and application.
Create and present technical reports.
Makes decisions and recommendations within authorized limits prescribed by supervisor and/or policy. Exercises independent judgement in selecting and interpreting information, handling deviations from standard methods and resolving difficulties independently.
Works independently within department and Company guidelines. Receives general instructions including priorities, deadlines and budget constraints. Recommendations are regarded as technically sound and reviewed for adherence to standards and policies. Finished work may be reviewed for attainment of objectives and effectiveness of results.
Other duties as required by business conditions.
Education/Experience:
Engineering Degree
Minimum 5 years of experience working with analytical instrumentation and/or equipment, or 3 years with an advanced degree
Experience with spectroscopic instruments
Process monitoring environment experience
Desirable but not required:
Advanced engineering/technical degree,
Experience in design and development of instrumentation
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience supporting customers directly, or working with Sales to develop new product/technology applications
CAD (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Navision)
Document management (e.g. Laserfiche)
Analysis (e.g. Matlab, FEA, CFD)
Proficiency designing, testing, and implementing PLC software programs and algorithms
Skills/Competencies:
Design of Experiments and Calibrations
Data analysis
Basic Project Management skills and good communication skills.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Authority:
Authority to stop work based on a serious safety or quality issue.
