Who You Are...


The Quality Manager I is responsible for maintaining the quality systems and quality certifications (i.e. ISO9001, AAR M-1003) within the rail division and supply chain.


This Position...


Is responsible for working with the quality team and facilities to provide quality control to our businesses. 


Some examples of the work you might do includes.... 


  1. Quality Manager is responsible for Pittsburgh-based functions such as Sales, Supply Chain, and Engineering/Design

  2. Responsible for administration and improvement of internal quality systems and third-party registrations such as ISO9001

  3. Conduct internal audits at various L.B. Foster locations in North America

  4. Follow up on corrective actions, evaluate responses and ensure objective evidence substantiates adequate closure

  5. Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of data to identify trends

  6. Use customer feedback to drive process and product improvements

  7. Represent L. B. Foster during customer or third-party audits or inspections

  8. Assist or conduct training of quality related processes, i.e. root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions

  9. This position is responsible for coordinating customer and plant quality concerns to drive internal corrective actions and continuous improvement throughout the Product Group.

  10. Be a coach/facilitator in the application of quality methodologies/techniques and best practices

  11. Other duties as assigned by the Segment Quality Manager


Experience, Education, & License Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or relevant technical area

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Quality Management role

  • ISO9001 Internal Auditor Certification required, Lead Auditor certification preferred

  • Up to 10% travel required


Skills & Abilities:



  • Ability to interpret Quality Standards such as ISO9001 and update practices and documents in accordance with standard requirements

  • Problem solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees at all levels.

  • Ability to navigate typical office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio).

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
