Description:  Akima is seeking a GSA Account Manager to support our STARS III  GWAC contract vehicle.  The successful candidate will collaborate to maximize contract utilization and will provide support from the initial identification and capture of opportunities, all the way through to proposal submission. The position is located at the Akima office in Herndon, VA

The Account Manager will represent the Akima GWAC center in the execution of inter-departmental projects and must assist in covering the team’s schedules and serve as back up on other vehicles as needed.  This is a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.  The Program Manager must be capable of discerning the priorities and comfortable working in this ever-changing environment. 

Job responsibilities include:



  • Serving as the subject matter expert and driving growth on strategic IDIQs/GWACs with a priority on STARS III  




  • Experience managing large, complex multimillion-dollar program pursuits ~$30M or more during all phases




  • Marketing STARS III  contract vehicle both internally to Akima Stakeholders and externally to Government Customers




  • Performing administrative duties related to the contract vehicle and the task orders awarded under the IDIQ, as required




  • The ability to identify and articulate the customer program features and the requirements and for a compliant and winning submission is necessary




  • Single POC for the AKIMA GWAC Center in the execution of interdepartmental projects related to STARS III  




  • Representing AKIMA in industry for STARS III  related events




  • Diligently staying ahead of deadlines while supporting, reviewing, and submitting large proposals without error and on time




  • Supporting colleagues as a subject matter expert in specific areas of government-wide contracting through the use of Best-In-Class (BIC) solutions




  • Reviewing, tracking, recording, and analyzing task order data




  • Supporting the addition of new BICs for the organization



Contributing to and performing research within a large task order database

To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following:



  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years related industry experience OR equivalent combination of education, work, and training in a relevant field




  • Familiarity with STARS III , Category Management, GWACs, and/or IDIQ contract vehicles




  • Understanding of the federal government contracting proposal process




  • You must be able to meet all health requirements, including but not limited to, current and future vaccination requirements for infectious diseases such as COVID-19

  • A demonstrated ability to meet and exceed challenging goals




  • Ability to contribute in a fast-paced business environment
