What you will do

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will plan, direct, and implement environmental, health and safety programs across the York plant to ensure regulatory compliance and accident-free work environment for the organization.

How you will do it


  • Engaging the work force, both salary and hourly, to drive cultural change and accomplish safety performance objectives and targets.


  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and lead adherence to all company EHS policies and best practices including Zero Harm, JCMS and Corporate KPIs and ensuring documentation in required corporate systems.


  • Ensure continued certification or actively pursue gaining certification with ISO 14001 and 45001.


  • With a thorough understanding of EPA requirements, must ensure completion and submission applicable environmental reports in a timely fashion (such as Tier II, TRI Form R, Generator’s Residual Waste, Waste-Water Self-Monitoring, and Air Emissions Inventory).


  • Manage property risk by ensuring compliance with FM Global assessments, building and life safety codes and routinely touring the property and conducting inspections and make corrective actions.


  • Manage building issues, such as scheduling inspections, tracking energy consumption, and ensuring physical upkeep.


  • Manages site staff, external suppliers and contractors related to building and EHS functions which may also include janitorial, fires systems, and snow removal. 


  • Ensures Required licenses and training are accomplished and documented where required.


  • Manages site emergency plan including drills and egress routes. Leads site emergency response and business continuity efforts.


  • Ensures Standardized procedures (SOPs) at site   include relevant safety precautions.


  • Update Management on changes to business, national or international EHS procedures and policies and ensure compliance.


  • Ensure that all incidents, hazards or potential hazards are reported and addressed promptly. Incidents are investigated in a timely manner and documented in required systems.


  • Lead the ongoing development of site EHS policies and procedures, required training, and critical safety control processes.


  • Manage internal and 3rd party EHS audits to ensure compliance.


  • Establish and monitor annual EHS goals.


  • Behave ethically and question the ethics of business practices.


  • Prepare annual budgets for maintenance of buildings and services and reduce operating costs.


  • Manage building and grounds maintenance.


  • Manage and control all agreed work by contractors to satisfactory completion.


  • Planning best allocation and utilization of space and resources.


  • Maintain a positive working environment.


  • Support the wider Site Leadership Team.


  • Improve personal performance and the performance of team colleagues.


  • This position will comprise of 70% EHS responsibilities and 30% management of facilities contractors.


What we look for

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.


  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing, oil and gas or similar heavy industry environment.

  • Experience managing Health and Safety systems.


  • Experience in Facilities Management and managing third party suppliers and contractors.


  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.


  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and NFPA regulations.


  • Experience driving continuous improvement.

Preferred:

  • CSP, CHMM or CEM certification.
