Job Description

This position is responsible for day to day payroll activities for all business units utilizing Oracle Human Resources Management System (HRMS) Payroll module, Ceridian Tax Online, and Kronos. This position will work closely with third party vendors, internal and external customers, and other Payroll team members to ensure the accuracy and timely reporting of payroll. This position will also work closely with other departments to ensure the end to end payroll process is executed accurately and timely, while handling all employee transactions with strict confidence.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be part of a team of payroll analysts who are responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions. The Payroll Analyst will be responsible for performing the following activities:


  • Maintaining accurate and timely payroll processes for all business units

  • Work with third party vendor on payroll adjustment entries and payroll reporting

  • Provide guidance to all business units on hour/wage entry, taxation inquiries and payroll deadlines

  • Ensure payroll balancing activities for all business units.

  • Build effective relationships with internal and external customers

  • Collaborate with peers in order to effectively manage payroll workloads during peak times

  • Review and analyze payroll data to identifying trends, goals and areas of improvement.

  • Collaborate as a team to develop process improvements supporting the payroll process as a whole

  • Work with the treasury, corporate accounting, field locations and third-party service provider teams to best serve our customers

  • Communicate with Payroll Process Manager regarding issues or concerns

  • Begins to understand upstream (i.e., Human Resources, Legal, Operations) and downstream (i.e., Treasury, Tax Department) processes and their relationship with the Payroll process and impact to our corporate objectives.

  • Identifies issues with the payroll process and can communicate or fix as required.

  • Adopts Payroll process improvement changes.

  • Begins to suggest opportunities to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of the overall payroll process.

  • Understands how payroll processing issues impact customers and metrics for the Service Provider.

  • Uses negotiated hand-offs when assistance is needed from team members and/or customers.

  • Actively supports change at all levels.

  • Actively collaborates with team members to ensure full portfolio collection activities are completed as required.

Education 


  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field required. 

Years of Experience 


  • Some experience in Oracle HRMS payroll module and Ceridian portal

Required Skills 


  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment. 

  • Strong negotiating/influencing skills. Ability to interact with and serve external customers, sales and operations personnel. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications. 

Preferred Skills 


  • Oracle HRMS Payroll module. 

  • Experience with Kronos timekeeping system.

  • Experience with Ceridian Tax a plus.

  • Experience analyzing and resolving garnishment information. 

  • Background in US or Canada payroll practices a plus.
