Job Description Summary

The San Diego Union-Tribune is looking for a passionate, nimble Jr. Advertorial Copywriter who is as creative as they are detail-oriented to join our team and help drive our advertiser marketing efforts.

The Jr. Advertorial Copywriter will craft clear and compelling written communication and persuasive promotional messaging across a broad range of traditional and online formats including but not limited to: print, digital, email, and social.

Assist with overseeing the content and production of weekly/monthly newsletters. Assist with generating and gathering said content, act as the face of deals in San Diego, and work with partners to solicit and present newsletter and email content. Collaborates with Advertising, Marketing, and Circulation to drive sales and growth in the areas of newsletters and emails, and print channels.

Job Description

Responsibilities:


  • Write a weekly “Deals” newsletter directing readers/viewers to the best deals in San Diego

  • Contact chambers and other business organizations to gather content opportunities

  • Outline look and feel of newsletter and presentation on SDUT channels

  • Collaborate with SDUT management to drive sales of newsletter and other assets

  • Provide weekly board meeting updates on sales programs

  • Liaison between Circulation, Advertising, Marketing, and Digital Ad Ops.

  • Form a small internal focus group & hold regular meetings with UT Sales and Circulation staff to discuss client needs

  • Form a few external focus groups to determine what consumers are doing during COVID19 – their purchases, their needs, and wants

Qualifications: 


  • A minimum of 2-3 years of creating & crafting advertorial marketing copy .

  • Strong multi-tasking skills. Ability to work across several projects with competing deadlines and have the ability to effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize deliverables.

  • Research, brainstorm, write, revise, and proof copy for all custom publishing sections.

  • Communicate effectively across all channels to engage target audiences across diverse demographics

  • Create clear, concise messaging that drive business results, support key marketing initiatives, and inspires action

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Advertising, English or Journalism related field.
