The Opportunity

A&M's Disputes and Investigations (DI) practice has set a new standard for bringing a practical, results-oriented approach to solving problems related to business investigations, complex disputes and regulatory interventions. From the boardroom to the courtroom, the firm delivers a wide array of solutions to contentious situations by drawing on the deep skills, diverse disciplines and experiences of its professionals who offer a unique ability to articulate complex findings in a clear and meaningful manner.

As a firm we are experiencing unprecedented growth and demand for our services and as a result we are expanding our high profile Data Analytics team with the recruitment of an experienced Associate/Senior Associate.

The Data Analytics team work across a wide range of different sectors and they have an international focus and culture.  The problems that they solve for our clients are complex and require solutions that utilize descriptive, predictive, prescriptive analytics.  


  • The consultant will work with large datasets, helping our advisory teams draw insights through a range of data-driven solutions such as financial modelling, time series analysis, KPI and management reporting. They will use a range of tools such as SAS, R, Python or SQL to interrogate and understand the data

  • The successful candidate will help improve efficiency in processing large quantity of data and enables a data-driven approach to help our clients solve problems

  • The role will offer opportunities to apply predictive analytics, statistical modelling and machine learning/deep learning techniques such as GLM, Regression, ARIMA, clustering, decision trees, Markov chain, Optimization/Operational Research, autonomous agents, Network Analysis, etc.

  • The successful candidate will use data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlikview to present findings in dashboards to internal teams and clients and apply the value of data analytics to various external and internal projects

The successful individual will have an excellent academic track record coupled with an entrepreneurial approach and proven track record in data analytics at a leading Advisory firm. Associates will reflect the operational distinctiveness that is A&M; a business savvy, outcome focused business entrepreneur who is driven to making an impact, determined to make a difference and not afraid to challenge the status-quo.

In addition, the successful candidate will possess;

  • Clear determination to deliver the latest thinking in Data Analytics within a highly competitive advisory marketplace

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills when working with both business and technical teams

  • Determination to be a strong business change agent & develop a reputation for transforming organizations to drive profit and growth

  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders including ‘C’ level executives for the delivery of innovative agendas

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university


  • Apply predictive analytics models and develop forecast algorithms

  • Develop business intelligence / KPI dashboards for management reporting

  • Analyze sales, marketing and financial business data across industries to identify opportunities for cost reduction and sales maximization

  • Extract and analyze financial transactional data (e.g. loans, assets, trades, etc) to perform data quality assessment and perform loan exposure stress testing

  • Interrogation of AR/AP/inventory data to drive cost savings and inform business decisions

  • Extract and interrogate sales and accounting data to perform compliance reviews and identify evidences of fraud, corruption and other anomalies

  • Perform anti-money laundering investigations and compliance reviews

Specifically, the successful candidate will have:

  • Experience querying and analyzing data using any of the common data analytical tools e.g. SQL, SAS, Python, Microsoft Access, or ACL

  • Experience automating processes using VBA or other tools

  • Experience in machine learning, statistical modelling desirable

  • Proven ability to work in teams and create measurable and identifiable improvements

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines

  • Fast learner, eager to learn new technologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • A very strong academic record including:

    • Robust analytical rigour

    • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and uncertain environment

  • Autonomous – Alvarez & Marsal has a flat structure with a self-sufficient culture

  • Flexibility to travel approximately 20-40% of the time
