Job Description:

TransCore (TRN) is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join our team in Houston, Texas.  


 


Job Description:   The Maintenance Technician II position performs installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment including but not limited to traffic controllers, CCTV cameras, RF antennas, switches, fiber optic patch panels, cabling, various terminal blocks, roadway signage and lighting.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Assist in restoring equipment to operational status as quickly as possible.

  • Traffic control placement in high and low speed environments.

  • Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of toll collection equipment to include computers, video surveillance equipment, RFID, and network communications equipment.

  • Completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.

  • Diagnoses and repairs hardware issues.

  • Reports technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintenance of spare equipment and parts including inventory management.

  • Field test of units or components.

  • Electronic filing of work orders.


 


Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.


 


Required Skills & Experience: 



  • Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience

  • Working knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials utilized within the trade

  • Communicate effectively to perform work assignments

  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Installation and repair skills

  • Electrical wiring experience

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Computer tech experience

  • Prior toll maintenance and electronic bench repair experience preferred


 


Desired Skills: 



  • Computer network experience

  • Cellular modem experience

  • CCTV camera experience

  • Traffic Signal controller experience


 


Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


 


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


 


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Driving is a key requirement for this position.
