Job Description: This role supports Solar Turbines' DeSoto and Mabank facilities with indirect material products and is based in DeSoto, Texas. (There is no relocation offered.)
The DeSoto facility supports Engine Overhaul activities! These overhauled engines support customers running data centers, hospitals, oil & gas producers/transmitters, universities, and so much more. The DeSoto facility is a customer facing, dynamic, critical operations environment that functions in 5 different buildings and is growing every day.
This Procurement Specialist role plays an integral role in establishing and maintaining the commercial relationship with existing suppliers as well as identifying potential new indirect suppliers/vendor managed inventory partners. This position acts with a sense of urgency and is diligent in providing timely support to internal clients. The Procurement Specialist operates in compliance with corporate and Supply Chain policies and procedures.
Procurement Specialist Accountabilities:
Sourcing Execution & Management - acts as the expert for supplier sourcing (discovery, evaluation, selection, and onboarding)
Supplier Management - provides guidance for managing and building the relationships of new and existing suppliers
Contract Management - Defines the types of agreements and leads discussions for complex and potentially high value agreements used by procurement. Provides guidance on diverse approaches (collaborates with business partners when agreements are global)
Negotiation - Develops and executes negotiating strategy for complex negotiations (collaborates with business partners when negotiations impact globally)
Cost Management - Collaborates with internal and external partners to develop global cost strategies for assessing demand, leveraging material availability and anticipating market trends, opportunities, and risks
Procurement Specialist Accountabilities:
Execute commercial agreements and negotiation process with suppliers ranging from purchase orders to long-term agreements
Be responsible for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment
Be the gatekeeper to suppliers; monitors and prioritizes multiple Solar demand streams into the suppliers
Lead the communication on ordering policies with suppliers
Participate in developing global indirect strategies and growing alignment with those procurement activities in the Texas facilities
Facility steward for Coupa and all systems supporting indirect purchasing
Provide input for sourcing, logistics and resource management decisions
Lead / participate in the supplier selection process
Review, report, and manage suppliers' delivery performance
Participate in supplier improvement projects
Have responsibility for contracting with OV suppliers
Have responsibility for lead time reduction
Have responsibility for annual re-cost process and cost management (Form M, PPV, cost reduction efforts)
Maintain data accuracy in the Coupa/BAAN system (e.g., ensure cost information accuracy, part set-up, lot sizes, etc) and maintain supplier website access
Participate in Six Sigma teams
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
Demonstrated knowledge of Materials Planning and Purchasing processes and systems.
Demonstrated experience in ERP and PDM systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experienced in negotiations
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks at one time.
Ability to be responsive and act with a sense of urgency.
Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or other related field
Supply Chain Certification from a professional institution (APICS, IIPMR, ISCEA, ISM, etc)
Understanding and demonstration of 6-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles
6-Sigma Blackbelt
Fast paced manufacturing environment experience
