SUMMARY: Under direction of the shop lead, responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles, machinery and light trucks to ensure proper performance and safety.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete vehicle inspections and vehicle preventative maintenance service. Perform yard checks and equipment inspections. Complete forklift inspections and preventative maintenance. Perform parts inventory. Responsible for shop housekeeping activities including cleaning shop floors and the parts receiving room. Responsible for basic automotive care, including changing oil and rotating tires.

SIGN ON BONUS: New Mechanics will receive a sign-on bonus of $2,000 (two thousand dollars). This bonus will be paid in two installments: 50% at completion of 6 months of employment with the remaining 50% at completion of 12 months of employment. The Mechanic must be employed in good standing and not subject to disciplinary action or subject to a performance improvement plan initiative.

EDUCATION: H igh school diploma or GED required. Technical school is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: This is an Entry Level position. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a shop or as a mechanic is preferred.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

COMPETENCIES : Good communication skills. The ability to listen to and follow directions. Excellent practical skills. Ability to solve problems. A willingness to work as part of a team.

OTHER: Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge. Completion of an apprenticeship is advantageous.

JOB SCOPE: Position impacts a single business unit/segment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
