Your Role




Reporting to the Head of Strategy, Market Intelligence, and Business Development of BioProcessing, the Head of Business Development, BioProcessing is a critical position in the BioP Strategy group. As a seasoned professional with broad experience in this domain, you are a proven manager with the ability to lead, develop and create a vision for a global team. Given the high visibility to senior management, this role presents excellent career advancement opportunities.


A successful candidate will be responsible & exhibit the following:




  • Establish vision for Business Development team and develop a programmatic, repeatable approach to streamline process and governance.

  • Develop thought leadership through collaboration with Strategy Development and Analytics & Intelligence teams as well as primary, proprietary market work.

  • Partner with BioProcessing leadership & business owners to define the technology roadmap and establish long-range view of inorganic activities needed to realize the BioProcessing strategy - this includes: licensing; technology acquisition, venture investments; partnership/ joint venture; M&A/ divestiture.

  • Define and maintain a framework to supervise the relevant IP landscape, identifying 'white-space' and licensing opportunities, highlighting challenges with proposed solutions in a timely fashion

  • Be an inclusive leader effectively leading and building a diverse, multi-cultural and global team, leading with authenticity that encourages the team to communicate openly.

  • You naturally establish credibility, trust, and respect; you are seen as a true thought partner when navigating a global matrixed organization.

  • You are able to balance multiple priorities and work against tight timelines.




The position is flexible on location, with a strong preference for Bedford, MA, USA.



Who you are:





Minimum Qualifications:



  • B.A. or B.S. degree in life science field with minimum 10 years of professional experience

  • Direct people management experience and consistent track record of building and developing successful teams

  • Experience in Business Development (Partnerships, In/out-licensing, M&A) with a focus on building positive relationships with partners including direct deal involvement



Preferred Qualifications:




  • MS/MBA: minimum 7 years work experience OR PhD, Minimum 5 years work experience; advanced degree in a quantitative/scientific field preferred

  • Business Development experience in regulated industries, ideally in healthcare or life science

  • Strong interpersonal skills with shown success in a matrixed organization

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills: Ability to optimally articulate sophisticated business issues

  • Proven ability to develop deep domain/industry understanding, based on customer needs, technology trends, and market landscape
