Job Description:

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Instructional Design and Accessibility Specialist. This is a temporary part-time position that will begin immediately. 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary based on need.


Reporting to the Dean of Educational Technology, the Instructional Design and Accessibility (ID&A) Specialist will provide dedicated support to BC3 faculty, regardless of the course delivery formats they teach, to guide them in the design and delivery of pedagogically and instructionally sound and accessible courses. The ID&A Specialist will collaborate and consult with BC3 Faculty to further enhance the scholarship of teaching and learning, increase digital accessibility, and improve student learning in all instructional formats (traditional, iTV, remote, hybrid, and online), with specific emphasis on best practices in teaching and learning, Universal Design for Learning principles (i.e., multiple means of representation, multiple means of action and expression, and multiple means of engagement) and the development of Section 508 compliant, accessible multimedia and digital instructional materials. The core functions of this position are: faculty consultation and support, instructional design assistance, multimedia development, digital accessibility and regulatory compliance, training and professional development. Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in
Instructional Design; Instructional Technology; Elementary, Secondary or Adult Education; or related field required. Additional certification in the field of instructional design, digital accessibility, educational/instructional technology, faculty development, or another related field preferred Three (3) years' experience working in education at the K-12 or college level required. Experience working with instructors, staff, or students in the application of instructional design theory, instructional technology integration, or related concepts preferred. Teaching experience at an accredited post-secondary institution across a variety of instructional modalities (in-person, hybrid, online) preferred.
