Acts as the primary employee at the college for the processing of payroll.
Prepares and reconciles biweekly and monthly payroll by established deadlines.
Prepares, reconciles and pays taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other items associated with payroll.
Prepares journal entries and enters them once approved.
Assists with reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Prepares correspondence and billings as needed.
Enters data into spreadsheets for various reports.
Develop, manage and maintain comprehensive payroll records.
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and guidelines.
Perform other similar duties as needed.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Required:
Two years' experience in an accounting or bookkeeping function required (experience may be substituted for education).
Ability to meet and deal politely and effectively with the general public, staff, faculty and students.
Possess knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Must have ability to type and operate Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to write business correspondence and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must have excellent time management and interpersonal skills, organization, coordination and prioritization of work to achieve department goals, and be able to work extra hours when necessary.
