Position Description:
The Senior Director HRBP is accountable for ensuring that the Manufacturing and Quality business function they support has the organizational capabilities, leadership and talent that are needed and to ensure that those people are engaged, motivated, and appropriately rewarded to achieve both long and short term business objectives.
This person does this predominantly by providing strategic and operational advice, consultation, and coaching and is expected to influence the site leadership of the BU/Function on critical organization and people-related issues that are critical to achieving business priorities and objectives for which the business leaders are ultimately accountable.
This role works with centers of expertise (COE) in HR including compensation & benefits, recruiting and staffing, leadership development, talent management, organizational effectiveness, Employee Relations and the Elanco Solutions Center (ESC) HR administration team to ensure that the services, policies, programs, and plans best serve the needs of the business that they support.
Bachelors Degree in HR, Business or a related field
5-10 years of experience as HRBP in a global company
Sound experience in a manufacturing/plant environment and shift work
Ability to develop an HR strategy that meets business needs
Experience working in a regulated environment
Effective communication skills
Inquisitive/curious and self-motivated
Excel and power point
Ability to translate strategy to action. Diagnose business problems. Create and implement solutions.
Ability to manage complex HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, organizational changes
Develop and use people metrics to inform and drive desired outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in organization design and change management.
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization
Understanding of compensation and benefits strategies and tactics
ability to learn and get up to speed on HR systems
Additional details:
Role will sit on the Site Lead Team, M&Q HRLT and Global HRBP Lead Team
Role will also provide supervisory responsibility to select roles on the site including the L&D team
Know the Business and the site:
The Senior Director HR BP is a key member of the Site leadership team that understands and contributes insight into functional/M&Q strategy beyond HR functional expertise
Learns the culture, environment and style of the site and its leadership
Challenges the leaders to provide the organization goals and objectives that will stretch the team while balancing risks
Proactively assesses the organization and implements changes to the organizational design
Ensures that the site has an effective workforce strategy in place.
Enables site leadership to recruit, develop and retain talent to meet leadership and technical capabilities needed in the organization
Provides strategies to help ensure that the workforce is engaged, motivated, and appropriately rewarded to achieve both long- and short-term business objectives.
Bring HR Competence, own the HR agenda:
Provides strategic and operational advice, consultation, and coaching to the leaders on critical organization and talent-related issues
Coach and influence site senior management and site lead team to ensure they are best placed to lead the people on the site
Enables leaders to be efficient in the use of the HR operating model i.e HR Shared Services, COE and HR BP support
Steward core HR Processes that will roll-up to Sr. Leaders.
Own the HR agenda for the site and ensure leaders understand expectations and tools available for them
Ensure HR policies, programs and plans best serve the needs of the organization and partner with the legal and US HRBP leader for adjustments and evolutions
Works with leaders, teams, and employees within scope of responsibility to drive organizational effectiveness
Lead and influence managers to execute on key business projects and processes as well as HR deliverables , initiatives and major annual processes
Responsible for proactive stewardship of Employee Relations for the plant site. Utilize metrics, trends and data to ensure positive impact to the workforce. Provide “voice of the employee” to site leadership team.
Total Reward Implementation. Outcome: The HR Strategic Business Partner is accountable for advising and influencing site leaders to ensure that total rewards and recognition plans and programs (monetary and non-monetary) drive critical business performance.
Balance the Needs of Leadership, Employees, Functions and the Company:
Enables high quality informed decisions by advocating, in a balanced way, the needs and priorities of the Company, Management and Employee.
Maintains objectivity in order to provide business leaders with different perspectives
Ensure alignment and communication with the functional leaders and HRSBP for M&Q on major decisions that impact functional employees
Ensure balance of local site variation and global or US consistency
Lead within the Elanco HR function:
Participate actively in US and HRBP exchanges and ensure best practice sharing and voice of site is being heard
Partners with HR COEs and ESC to continuously improve HR services
Partner with functional HRSBP to optimize the HR service delivery
Role model the HR operating model and the HR mission
Embrace HR change and transformation. Help own team to manage change.
Develops HR talent by sharing best practices plus mentoring and/or supervising other HR resources
