Design and develop machine control systems to support new product development, product improvements, capacity expansions, and equipment rebuild projects. Primary responsibility will be designing controls systems using AutoCAD Electrical, PLC and HMI programming, but must be willing and able to assists in all project activities in order to meet requirements including panel building.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage, develop, and implement automation systems projects for tooling, controls, and equipment to achieve stated objectives while meeting cost and time targets.
Implement methods, process or control changes to systems to reduce overall costs, improve quality and expand manufacturing capabilities.
Participate in equipment design and review from a systems design perspective.
Maintain accurate BOM's and files to support project documentation package.
Support standardization initiatives by specifying and purchasing similar controls equipment, components, and participate in standards development.
Participate in equipment design and review from a systems design perspective.
Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing and maintenance personnel to solve chronic or complex problems. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical area is required (EE preferred).
5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing engineering.
Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components
Familiar with NEC and NFPA codes.
Experience with Rockwell Automation software and components (RSLogix 500/5000, FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk Transaction Manager, Kinetix Drives, Ethernet and DeviceNET communication protocols.
Should demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work well within a team environment and collaborate with different functional groups.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, work at a computer for extended periods of time ( estimated 70% desk / 30% floor role.)
Must be willing to travel to Hendrickson manufacturing facilities on an as-needed basis (up to 20%)
Must be able to lead the physical assembly of his/her own mechanical/electrical machine designs, making adjustments as needed.
Candidate will be working in and around industrial machinery. May be exposed to the following processes and the environmental conditions inherent with each: automation, machining, heat treat, laser cutting, and other assembly processes.
All necessary PPE (as defined by OSHA) and training associated with such will be provided.
