Production Manager



Huntsman's Advanced Materials Division is now searching for a new Production Manager who will manage and drive change at the Akron Plant to improve HSE, Cost, Quality and Productivity Performance. This role is an active, full member of the site leadership team, located in Akron, Ohio.



As the Production Manager, you will:

• Assure compliance to all HS&E requirements, regulations and permits. Continuously improve Plant effectiveness in Safety and Environmental by providing clear and visible leadership consistent with Huntsman standards.


• Gather and analyze data to measure asset utilization, capacity, cycle times, yield, downtime, raw material efficiency, waste generation and energy efficiency.


• Optimize process throughput through debottlenecking studies and conduct long term capacity planning in conjunction with the business leaders. Develop capital efficient plans to meet the capacity needs of the businesses.


• Identify value added projects for the department.


• Lead the continuous improvement effort for all aspects of process performance including cycle times, yields, downtime, raw material efficiency, waste generation, energy efficiency and quality.


• Develop operating and capital budgets and manage expenditures to achieve the business unit objectives.


• Participate in the management of the Akron plant as a member of the Plant Manager's staff.


• Participate in the management of the business (Asset Team).


• Provide training, coaching and development to employees in accordance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.


• Plan and manage maintenance shutdowns and product changeovers.

Skills and experiences required:

• Bachelor degree Engineering required; Chemical Engineering preferred - MBA a plus.


• At least five years functional process improvement experience in a manufacturing plant environment.


• Experience implementing change using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methods and practices is preferred.


• Proficient at using problem solving tools, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.


• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive changes in culture and to lead teams to higher levels of success.


• Proven communication skills and action/results orientation.


• Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with continually changing priorities.


• Union management experience desired.


• Ability to plan and execute production activities is required.
