Job Description:

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a 100
% Medical Assistant II to work at the UICC West Des Moines Womens Health Clinic. This position comes with the University of Iowa's generous, full benefit package including double-match retirement, paid vacation and sick leave, and much more!


Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Women's Health Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)


Schedule: Variable hours between Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, no holiday and weekend time, no on-call time.


Pay Grade: 8 https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/merit-plan


Salary: $35,588.80-$52,956.80 / Hourly: $17.11 - $25.46 (based on years of experience)




Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program accredited by ABHES or CAAHEP, graduation from a college with institutional accreditation by regional or national accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant is preferred
  • Current course completion card in Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
  • Current course completion card in Advanced Cardiac Life Support by the American Heart Association
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Previous healthcare support experience, 1 to 3 years (in past 3 years) in healthcare setting
  • Computer skills and ability to navigate the EMR - Epic, Word, etc.
