Job Description:

Our Johnson City, TN location is looking for someone to join their team as an Order Filler (Picker/Packer) in Distribution. This person must be able to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm with some occasional overtime depending on customer demand. Overtime hours are usually covered by coming in early or staying late after the shift. Very rarely does this position work a Saturday.

SUMMARY

A picker position, picks items on ticket order to be shipped to customers and a Packer position packs and ensures quality of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Picker:

• Picks all outbound shipments and delivers items to Distribution Packer.

Packer:

• Packs orders to be shipped.
• Ensures orders packed are verified.
• Processes outbound packages using shipping software.
• Assists in picking orders.
• Keeps workstation stocked with bubble bags, pad packs, boxes, and tape.
• Rotates inventory.

Both Positions:

• Remains current on procedures and work instructions.
• Reports complaints in accordance to complaint handling process.
• May assist in cycle count process as required.
• Performs other duties within competency as assigned or needed.

QUALIFICATIONS /COMPETENCIES

• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively and clearly communicate one-on-one and small group situation. Customers, clients, and/or other employees of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three months work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Internet software.
• Email application.
• Hand held scanner.
• Shipping software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, mild chemicals, and airborne particles, thus safety glasses and gloves may be required. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
