Position Highlights

Work location: Southwestern Health Resources Headquarters (SWHR), 1601/1603 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

Work environment: Medicare Advantage Operations.

Please note: The Internal Audit Program Manager will be an employee of Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR). SWHR is a clinically integrated network formed by Texas Health Resources (THR) and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW).

Work hours:


  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday - Friday, Day shift.
  • This is a Hybrid position, requiring onsite workdays during the week, based on department business needs.
  • May require in-person attendance as needed, to department meetings, trainings and/or other department authorized activities, at the above-mentioned address or other locations as directed by the department management.

SWHR is the parent organization of Care N' Care Insurance Co., a leading regional Medicare Advantage health plan organization that serves approximately 17,000 patients in North Texas.

Education


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Experience

  • Require 4 years of experience in Auditing, Accounting, Business Analysis, or similar work experience.
  • Prefer 2 years of experience in Public Accounting, especially in the Big 4 Accounting Firms (Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PwC) or in other large multi-national companies.
  • Prefer 1 year of Healthcare Auditing, Accounting, Business Analysis experience.
Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire preferred.
Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, and management principles and preferred business practices.
  • Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, Medicare, Medicaid, regulatory standards for healthcare organizations.
  • Working ability to conduct quality control reviews of audit work products.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications commonly used in managing and leading a subject area across entities.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, change management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary workgroups through complex evaluations for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and cross functionally across all areas of the business.
Position Responsibilities

The Internal Audit Program Manager will lead financial, operational and compliance related audit projects and requires the ability to understand business processes, internal controls and recognize risk.

Position Functions

  • Lead to establish an internal audit function working closely with management and co-source partner including key performance indicators to assess and improve audit performance.
  • Work collaboratively and cross functionally to complete the annual risk assessment and audit plan. Forecast and identify risk on a continual basis to ensure focus on key risk areas.
  • Lead and execute high quality internal audit engagements in collaboration with co-source partner. Manage, develop and/or perform audit programs and procedures targeting key risk areas, document audit issues, perform root cause analysis, make value add recommendations and appropriately communicate across the organization as deemed appropriate.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, or general updates to ensure identified issues are appropriately communicated. Work with management teams to ensure appropriate and timely remediation of identified issues.
  • Integrate and work cross-functionally with departments across the organization to identify, assess and ensure appropriate control measures, including but not limited to, IT, Accounting, etc.
  • Provide training on accounting or audit related matters.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Summarize and present audit results and general updates to executive management.
  • Assist accounting leadership team with review of key financial schedules, external audit, etc.
  • Create process documentation for key accounting (treasury, revenue, etc.) and operational areas. This includes but not limited to process narratives, risk and control matrices, process flowcharts, etc. Identify risks within processes and work with process owners to create process efficiencies and enhance performance.
  • Assist with new accounting standard implementation/review process (revenue and leases).
  • Project manage the company's SOC Reports including review for control weaknesses and assess for appropriate remediation.
