Categories: Research/Scientific, Fixed Term Academic Staff, Full Time (90-100%), Non-Union Position SummarySeeking a postdoctoral associate to support the spin-up of research activities related neonatal and maternal injury biomechanics related to the birth process. Dr. Michele Grimm joined Michigan State University as the Wielenga Creative Engineering Endowed Professor in January 2019. She has previously developed an internationally recognized research program that has developed rigid body models of the neonatal response to childbirth, with particular focus on neonatal brachial plexus palsy. She is looking to expand her research program in this area to continue collaborations with obstetricians and add collaborations with experimental biomedical engineering laboratories so that the models can be expanded to investigate the mechanisms of both neonatal and maternal injuries that occur during the birth process.Equal Employment Opportunity Statement

Required Degree
Doctorate -Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must hold a PhD in biomedical engineering or mechanical engineering. Candidates must have strong oral and written communication skills. Candidates are expected to work well in a team setting, be self-motivated, and have experience with working with diverse groups of students and faculty.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates with experience in modeling of tissue and structural response to loading (e.g. FEA, rigid body modeling) are preferred.
