As an integral member of the firm’s dynamic Marketing and Business Development Team, the Business Development Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the firm’s growth initiatives. Working in lockstep with leaders throughout the firm, the Business Development Coordinator develops and implements creative approaches to expand the firm’s client base and portfolio through market research and the development of proposals, presentations, and other collateral.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has exceptional communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong team leadership skills, as well as the ability to function both collaboratively and autonomously, will be essential to success in this role.

Your Responsibilities


  • Identify strategies and opportunities for expanding client relationships led by Architectural, Engineering, and Planning groups.

  • Assist with the execution of marketing and business development strategies, plans and projects, including

    the tracking and follow-up of specific efforts.

  • Coordinate marketing and business development as assigned; take ownership from inception through implementation.

  • Monitor and report on trends and issues impacting clients of each discipline.

    Systematically disseminate relevant news articles to BD leads in each department and recommend potential strategies.

  • Prepare detailed client research and analysis of targets in support of business development efforts.

  • Recommend client development plans and assist in setting targeted deadlines.

  • Direct the pitch/proposal process within the discipline group: effort includes research, strategy, draft and edit written materials, advise on oral presentations, and creation of PowerPoint slides.

  • Take a lead role in identifying potential client conflicts and follow up with opportunity leader to ensure conflicts are addressed and resolved.

  • Drive the proposal kick-off process and develop initial draft documents.

  • Serve as the key contact with the BD team in developing targeted PR efforts and plans.

  • Work closely with partners, marketing team and outside agencies to implement plans.

  • Assist in the creation of marketing and business development strategies 

  • Assist PIC/PM in to create marketing and business development collateral

  • Coordinates with marketing staff corporate-wide on creative and image and branding strategies

  • Assist in developing and producing conference materials that are targeted/tailored

  • Tracks upcoming RFP and BD and reports to PIC/PM.

  • Manages proposal coordinator in on the production of proposals

  • Manage the updates project sheets and web collateral

  • Assist at conferences as needed

  • Adds creative value to project-related items/tasks to enhance the graphic/visual appeal of OHM deliverables

  • Assist and support the creation of OHM business development plan, market research, strategy, including long and short-term action plans. 

  • Coordinate the sales effort for all disciplines of OHM and provide a framework within which all client maintenance and new client development activities will occur and can be tracked.

  • Manage, design, and prepare for new project interviews and presentations.

  • Help facilitate the design strategies for pursuing new business prospects.

  • Collaborate with OHM leadership to prepare and execute programs as well as initiatives to enhance market share plus profitability of business.

  • Maintain open lines of communication between all offices, informing principals/directors of major market opportunities and trends, targeted client activities, and competitor movements.

  • Participate in long-range planning, public relations, and business development strategies.

What You’ll Need to Succeed


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Graphic Design, Marketing, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Preferred: 2+ years experience in the A/E industry or related professional service industry in business development, marketing, graphic design, or proposal development role.

  • Proficiency in InDesign, MS Office, and Working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to proofread and edit technical content.

  • Advanced graphic design capabilities with a sharp eye for page layout.

  • Demonstrated success leading collaborative teams and coordinating processes among stakeholder groups.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Self-directed and able to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver high-quality work under accelerated timelines.
