The Washington Post is seeking an experienced motion graphics editor and animator with a background in live newscast production.

The motion graphics editor-animator will be responsible for leading graphics production and playout for the Video department's coverage of live news events in a broadcast control room environment. Primary responsibilities include designing onscreen graphics using Viz Artist and Adobe After Effects and operating Viz Trio during live programs. Additional responsibilities include supporting the daily creation of pre-production graphics for video packages.

The successful applicant must have exceptional design and typography skills and expertise in creating motion graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud and Vizrt. The ideal candidate also has demonstrated experience designing and developing stories using mixed-media and 2-D/3-D animation techniques. The motion graphics editor-animator is responsible for taking various forms of media and creating engaging and easy-to-understand motion graphics. Projects can range from a poll graphic to an animated explainer.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment, including a broadcast control room, strong news judgment, a passion for visual art, excellent communication skills, strong writing skills and a proven record of producing compelling animated content for live programs.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Applicants must be able to work all shifts, including early mornings, nights and weekends as determined by the live coverage schedule.
