What will I be doing?

A Lead Identity Software Engineer at Hilton is encouraged to be experienced with development concepts and methodologies and current development languages and methods. Specifically, this position design, develops, tests, debugs, and documents identity management application solutions to achieve Hilton’s technical and business objectives. This includes: Demonstrating technical expertise and analytical skills, the candidate works closely with peers, Software Engineers and cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet user access management requirements for Hilton applications and platforms. This includes:


  • Implementing authentication and identity operating standards

  • Developing tools and scripts to increase automation and streamline operations

  • Carrying out strategic plans to ensure system currency and technical evolution of services and architecture

  • Lead and drive improvements to the operations, workflows and user experience.

  • Resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement of service

  • Lead internal and external partners in applying standard operational processes and launching new products

  • Complete projects through requirements analysis, design, implementation and operational stages

  • Develop and handle reports and dashboards that reflect key performance indicators.

What are we looking for?

The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:


  • Experience in leading global identity and authentication services

  • Experience in Java, Perl, Powershell

  • Experience with multi-factor authentication solutions (RSA SecurID, Duo Security, SecureAuth)

  • Experience with PingFederate or other federation solutions.

  • Solid grasp of Sailpoint IdentityIQ, Microsoft AD, Oracle/Sun Directory Server

  • Familiar with SAML and Oauth

  • Experience with developing/implementing web interfaces (REST, SAOP)

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Advanced certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, MCSE, MCSM, EMCSA, ODACA, ODACP, etc.

  • Experience working with outsourced support vendors

  • A bias for data driven decisions

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:


  • Five (5) years of professional experience in Technology or related field

  • Five (5) years of programming experience using Java or Object Oriented programming language

  • Two (2) years of experience with relational databases such as Oracle, Informix, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, etc.  Basic knowledge of SQL a must. 

  • Two (2) years of experience with directories such as Active Directory or standard LDAP

  • Experience with Identity Management platforms such as Sun, Oracle, RSA, Sailpoint, etc

  • Experience with markup languages such as XML, XHTML, etc.

  • Experience with web interfaces such as SOAP, CGI, REST etc.

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6+ years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology related experience

  • Three (3)+ years direct experience with LDAP and directory structures is an asset

  • Five (5)+ years recent past experience with a Java Application server (Weblogic, WebSphere, Glassfish, TomCat, etc.)

  • Experience with Kerberos, SAML, Oauth2, WS-Fed and OpenID Connect

  • Experience with integration platforms such as Apache Kafka, MQ Series, WS02

  • Experience with Powershell is an asset
