U.S. Business Unit Storyteller

About the role:

The U.S. Business Unit (USBU) Storyteller (Director) will support the USBU Communications team with the development and delivery of thoughtful communications that connect and engage various external and internal audiences. This person will craft and use compelling, thought-provoking stories and other communications to build pride and strengthen employee understanding and engagement internally and help to elevate our brand and reputation to external audiences. Additionally, this person will help to be the communications lead for our USBU/Pan-US Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) and Health Equity programs.

How you will contribute:


  • Support the on-going development of an internal/external storyline, messaging and narrative for the USBU and the USBU President, working with the Sr. Director of USBU Communications and key internal/external communications partners.

  • Create a steady flow of compelling stories for internal and external channels, including but not limited to Takeda's intranet and internal newsletters, employee ambassador platform, social media and Takeda's U.S. website to drive internal awareness and drive brand recognition externally.

  • Plan, write, edit and/or proofread executive communications, strategic updates, news articles, organizational announcements and other communications.

  • Partner with internal subject matter experts to develop communications plans and materials to elevate and drive awareness for our U.S. CSR, DE&I and Health Equity programs across the USBU and pan-U.S.

  • Support business unit communications leads to ensure coordination and alignment with business leaders, leveraging our narrative and using storytelling to further engage their internal and external stakeholders and build our reputation across the U.S.

  • Equip USBU leaders with the tools and resources to become Takeda storytellers and speak confidently about Takeda's role in the U.S. and how the organization is living its purpose.

  • Work with colleagues to embed the narrative into every major touchpoint: recruiting process, induction/onboarding, leadership development programming, culture/DEI initiatives, U.S. CSR program, and Health Equity, etc.

  • Measure effectiveness of executive communications, looking for ways to continually modify, innovate and improve to deliver maximum value for the intended audience.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree required; BS/BA Majors in Journalism, Communications or public policy/public affairs.

  • Minimum of 12+ years with demonstrated increased level of responsibility of professional experience.

  • Executive communications experience.

  • Strategic business partner with the ability to translate business information into language that employees and customer can understand.

  • Ability to negotiate and form consensus among various parties important.

  • Experience in the healthcare/bio-pharma industry is preferred.

  • Strong social media experience preferred.

  • Creative writer who can write clear, compelling narratives customized for various stakeholders.

  • Ability to work directly with senior executives and a proven track-record in developing authentic and inspiring executive communications.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational skills accompanied by the ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.

  • Team player and self-starter with a positive attitude.
