City Experiences is seeking an Assistant Engineer for our Seaward Services - Endeavor Operation

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.
About the Opportunity:
The Assistant Engineer will support the safe operation of the vessel in a fashion that will promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest standard of customer service within the industry. The Assistant Engineer is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the vessel’s engineering plant as well as supervision of engineering department members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintenance and operation of vessel systems within legal requirements of USCG, FCC, and other pertinent regulatory agencies
Participate in the safe operation of vessel as required within the USCG regulations
Conduct drills with Marine and non-Marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew
Assist the Chief Engineer in the supervision of the engine department and the engine crew
Report any problems to the Chief Engineer immediately
Maintain a safe and clean engine room
Assist Shore Technicians as needed
Maintain daily logs
Properly stock and inventory the vessel’s spare parts
Operate the vessel appropriate to the parameters of ISO-HSC
Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed
Ensure that own performance and that of junior engineers meets legal and professional requirements
Train new engineers as required
Make emergency repairs when needed
Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule
Perform all other duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel’s First Assistant Engineer
Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
DDE 4000 Endorsement
STCW 95 Certificate with the following endorsements: III/1, III/4, VI/1, VI/2, VI/3 and VI/4
Valid United States Passport
Must be able to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Copy of DD Form 214, if Veteran Status
Two (2) to five (5) years’ as marine engineer, demonstrating ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility
Specific training and experience in management of major onboard systems by type and brand
Excellent career record in the marine industry
Possess and demonstrate superior engine room skills relevant to the operation of a high-speed diesel powered waterjet propelled car/passenger ferry
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 2010 or newer (Word, Excel, and Project) in conjunction with administrative skills
Experience in management of major on-board systems by type and brand
Strong electronics background
Understudy the Chief Engineer and be able to act in his absence
Possess and demonstrate superior leadership/management skills
Provide proven training, mentoring, counseling and coaching skills
Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrate well-developed inter-personal skills, to include maintaining quality working relationships with other employees and the public during the course of work
Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work
Demonstrate initiative and an ability to set and achieve high standards of performance
Demonstrate appropriate management and administrative skills
Plan and organize and to meet rigid schedules and demanding time-lines
Be able to pursue and complete multiple assignments under time constraints and in an environment subject to many distractions
Possess and demonstrate superior judgment, analytical ability, performance under pressure and other skills necessary during routine operation or emergency response aboard a high capacity motor vessel
Training and experience in the operation of onboard control, communication, lifesaving, navigation and fire-fighting systems
Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problems
Be able to design and implement training, mentoring, coaching and counseling programs and sessions
Thoroughly understand all pertinent regulations and laws under which the vessel operates
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must be a United States Citizen (it is not customary of the company to sponsor visas)
Present a neat and well-groomed personal appearance commensurate with professional maritime standards
Must wear Company uniform and required safety equipment
Maintain compliance with USCG licensing requirements including physical standards
