City Experiences is seeking a Cabin Steward for our Seaward Services operation in Bar Harbor, ME.

About the Opportunity:
The Cabin Crew employee will serve as the guest contact and liaison. The Cabin Crew employee is responsible for greeting guests, keeping the passenger deck clean before, during and after service and assisting with concession or retail store duties as required. Provides service in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner displaying a high standard of customer service. In all duties, ensure prescribed safety and sanitation standards are constantly practiced. This position will serve aboard a High-Speed Transport vessel which provides passenger and vehicle ferry service between Bar Harbor, Maine and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Present professional level of customer service and appearance at all times.
Assist with the stocking and set up of the passenger deck before, during and after the sailing as requested.
Maintain safety and cleanliness of assigned work area at all times during shift, including immediately wiping up spills to avoid accidents, keeping passenger deck clean and tidy, and properly disposing of garbage and recyclable items.
Assist with concession/retail shop operations, including delivering food/beverage and bussing tables.
Maintain available condiment stocks for use by the customer.
Sweep and mop the floor at the end of each shift.
Follow all sanitation codes outlined in the vessel procedure manual
Defer to, and act in support of the Purser or the ship’s Officers in the event of a real or simulated emergency.
Participate in drills with marine and non-marine crew as directed.
Assist all passengers, reporting the same immediately to the Chief Steward
Responsible for the safe use of all equipment and cleaning compounds within your area.
Report problems to the Chief Steward immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner’s Credential (MMC)
STCW/BST credential
Valid United States Passport
Must be able to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Certified on shipboard security and crowd control (training will be provided by Seaward Services)
CPR/AED/First Aid certification
Copy of DD Form 214, if Veteran Status
High Speed passenger vessel experience preferred
Excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills in English language
Ability to interact with crew and passengers in a pleasant, professional, and polite manner
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 2010 or newer (Word and Excel) in conjunction with administrative skills
Will be required to serve on board high speed transport craft operated at high speeds in rough water and must be physically able and conditioned to endure the rigors of these operations
Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrate well-developed inter-personal skills, to include maintaining quality working relationships with other employees and the public during the course of work
Excellent guest service skills with the ability to deal with others regularly in a courteous and helpful manner.
Communication skills require the ability to provide or obtain basic types of factual information or explanations
Solid teamwork skills with the ability to take the initiative to assist and get along well with others.
Must be able to follow direction and well-defined procedures
Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work
Demonstrate initiative and an ability to set and achieve high standards of performance
Be able to pursue and complete multiple assignments under time constraints and in an environment subject to many distractions
Possess and demonstrate superior judgment, analytical ability, performance under pressure and other skills necessary during routine operation or emergency response aboard a high capacity motor vessel
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Must be a United States Citizen (it is not customary of the company to sponsor visas)
Present a neat and well-groomed personal appearance commensurate with professional maritime standards
Must wear Company uniform and required safety equipment
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule. Flexible schedules include day, evening, holidays, and weekends.
