Job Description:

Machine Operator-

• 3rd Shift- 10pm-6am (will need to train on 1st or 2nd shift for the first couple of weeks)

Summary:

Threads the single facer at start up, monitors and adjusts the settings for quality, assists all wet end operators with duties.  Communicates with the supervisor regarding single face quality and any related problems.  Performs all duties in a safe manner, while wearing all required PPE and immediately reports any safety concern to the supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Monitors all settings on single facer making adjustments accordingly for the glue roll, pressure roll, mill stand break, starch flow, pre-heaters, and dam position.

Reads lineup to ensure correct rolls are positioned and that necessary quantity of stock is correctly positioned.  Ensures correct roll by checking grade, size, and potentially manufacturer or coating type. 

Puts roll on mill stand using roll mover or roll tracks; removes roll plugs.

Removes the roll stock ticket from the roll and scans it to the machine. 

Threads splicer, prepares tail and indexes splicer head.  Takes up slack in roll, sets the brake and then engages the pre-warm option on splicer.  Rethreads paper if web break occurs. 

Assists other wet end operators as necessary for breaks, etc.

Performs daily cleanup of single facer and work area. 

Attend all safety training provided by the employer.

Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

Follow safety regulations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Follow directions and work well in a team.

Ability to interpret and translate job specifications for production machineries.

Solid understanding of the production equipment.
