City Experiences is seeking a Fabricator for our Hornblower Shipyard operation in Bridgeport.

About the Opportunity:
This position works in a shipyard setting with metals and other materials to fabricate parts, equipment and structures for commercial vessels.
About You:
This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Fabricate, install, and/or repair vessel structural members, outfitting components, or other parts as needed
Work with a variety of metals including Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Steel, and Copper- Nickel.
Read and understand blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Determine the appropriate equipment to be used, fabrication methods, and estimated time to complete based on requirements
Use welding techniques and equipment such as MIG, TIG, Oxy-Acetylene Torch, Flux- Cored Arc, and Plasma Cutting.
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders with guard to prepare the parts that must be welded
Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
Assists with general operations of the yard, including but not limited to:
Removal of vessels from water using movable lift crane
Moving vessels in the yard
Positioning and securing blocking at the bottom and sides of the vessel according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels, using fasteners, hand tools and power tools
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Able to work cooperatively with other department personnel.
Follow defined instructions and procedures in performance of tasks.
Attention to detail: Must perform all tasks in compliance with regulatory agency standards such as USCG.
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain safe, clean work area.
Conduct yourself with a positive and contagious attitude for others to emulate.
Keep the (PM) and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.
Holds yourself and all employees accountable to the Environmental, Safety and Quality. Respect and SMS systems of the organization and to work closely with the Manager of ISO/Respect & Training to implement such systems, plans and control of records and documentation.
Travel to project sites within the US and internationally as needed.
Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Must have experience working in the marine or construction field
1+ years’ experience as a metal fabricator, marine experience preferred
Experience working with aluminum preferred
Current and valid welding certifications a plus
Experience working in a shipyard or boatyard environment
Experience working on construction sites and with power tools
Knowledge of construction site best practices and safety procedures
Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints
Experience working in a team and operational environment
Valid driver’s license
Ability to travel to jobs at different sites
Must thrive in a fast-paced environment
