Job Description Summary
Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide oversight of the plant water & wastewater treatment systems and land application network per Federal, State or Local regulatory requirements. Supervise operators of the water/wastewater systems. Interface daily with contracted farmer that operates the process water land application system. Manage and maintain data to ensure proper, effective and efficient system operations and to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. Build and provide tools, processes, training, and implementation support to assist facility personnel in managing legal/regulatory obligations and Lamb Weston environmental program requirements.
Job Description
Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of the process wastewater treatment system
Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of the domestic wastewater (sanitary sewer) treatment system
Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of the drinking water and process water treatment systems
Responsible for understanding all wastewater permit regulations and guidelines for operation
Safely works with chemicals in the waste water system to make required adjustments
Drives safety performance of water/wastewater treatment group
Responsible for identification of potential issues and notification with plant management when issues or deviations from normal operations
Supervise water/wastewater treatment operators and manage scheduling
Daily interface with Madison farms on the scheduling and distribution of process water for land application
Coordination/scheduling of sample collection and data analysis at internal and/or third-party laboratories
Analytical data management and QA/QC review
Track and log data in third-party water quality database
Plan and schedule regular preventative maintenance activities as well as facility outage maintenance activities for the water/wastewater systems using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure full system functionality at all times
Manage water/wastewater maintenance budget including development of water/wastewater budget line items.
Manage water/wastewater chemical & supplies budget
Work with environmental manager to complete periodic compliance reporting
Utilize EHS management information software (MIS) to track and document related compliance task completion
Coordination/scheduling with subcontractor for permit required sampling (crop/soil/soil moisture/groundwater/climatic)
Participate in sustainable development (SD) activities to support water efficiency, energy efficiency, and waste reduction efforts
Participate and help coordinate input into SD metric tracking system
Support environmental program management
Assist the plant environmental manager, as necessary
Participate in capital planning process to ensure water/wastewater system needs are addressed in a timely manner
Implement continuous improvement activities to optimize system performance and reduce overall costs
Other duties as assigned
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in water/wastewater treatment or equivalent (required)
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biology, or chemistry (preferred)
2-5 + years progressive experience in the wastewater field
Must have commanding knowledge and experience related to biological treatment systems (anaerobic and aerobic with biological nutrient removal, BNR) as well as primary and secondary treatment processes
Must have knowledge and experience in water treatment operations including reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration
Must have knowledge and experience in basic laboratory methods and practices including sample handling and QA/QC review and evaluation
Ability to interpret lab results and develop action plans for system correction
Ability to troubleshoot water / wastewater treatment processes required
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Must possess or be able to obtain a Class II wastewater operator license from Oregon DEQ
Must possess or be able to obtain a Small Water System Operator license ("S" certification) for the potable water systems from Oregon Health Authority
Good leadership skills required
Good presentation skills preferred
Demonstrated ability to apply math skills to manage systems
Strong English skills required
Strong mechanical aptitude required
Strong computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SAP, etc.) capabilities required
