AVP, Casualty Manager- Commercial Insurance at Chubb in Chicago, Illinois

Job Description:

Position Details:

Lead a team of 6-9 underwriters, including responsibility for Renewal Underwriting Center business.  Work with Midwest Region Commercial Insurance managers in financial information analysis and reporting, employee development and training, agent and producer relationship development, and achieving financial goals for a $70M book of business across a variety of industry practices for primary and excess casualty lines.  The Manager will also maintain a partial book of new and renewal business.  Chubb offices serviced by this team include branch offices throughout the Midwest with the exception of Kansas City, St. Louis, and Troy (Michigan). 



Other job responsibilities and functions include:


  • Executing strategic initiatives in conjunction with the Industry Practice, and leading the team towards meeting and exceeding financial plans.

  • Managing the Casualty book of business, monitoring results for trends and setting growth and profit strategies based on trends in conjunction with the Industry Practice leadership.

  • Acting as a key contact to build, maintain and manage customer/producer relationships (including regular agency visits based on business need).

  • Assist with agency planning and goal setting including monitoring of progress.

  • Managing the prospect pipeline including identifying cross sell opportunities.

  • Meeting with renewal customers as part of a Chubb team to make sales presentations and to negotiate coverage, price, financial terms and service delivery, as necessary.

  • Working in a team environment with Underwriters, Risk Engineering, Claims and Operations.

  • Meeting service standards of a customer focused strategy.

  • Collecting and sharing competitor data with team.

 








Knowledge, skills and abilities: 


  • Working knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge in the Manufacturing, Professional Services and Other Services Industry practices.

  • Proven and successful, sales skills. 

  • Prior people management experience a plus

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. 

  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
