Assoc Remelt Operators ensure safe and environmentally sound operation, and achievement of targets related to quality and productivity. This position reports directly to the Melt Business Unit Leader and ultimately to the Operations Leader.
Assoc Remelt Operators work a 12-hour rotating schedule, with a paid 15 minute overlap of shifts to attend a pre-shift meeting. It is expected that Operations Technicians will work an amount of overtime that supports the business and their work team. Attendance at meetings is expected, and opportunities exist for participation on a variety of committees, focus groups and project teams.
Responsibilities & Qualifications

Actively participate in elements of Greensboro's safety system
Ensure compliance to environmental requirements
Perform material handling activities, mostly with a fork truck and bobcat
Ensure mechanical properties by sampling, alloying and skimming
Transfer molten metal to the Holders per production targets
Manage weighbelt speeds to optimize throughput
Manage dross to reduce waste and to meet shipping requirements
Perform equipment inspections to ensure proper condition
Keep all work areas clean and bright

Climb on/off fork truck several times a day

Lift up to 50 lbs
Be able to work at temperatures < 50 degrees in the winter to >100 degrees in the summer

With 140 employees it is the first stand-alone used beverage can recycling facility in the company now responsible for pioneering a majority of Novelis' recycling technologies.
