CHARGE ENTRY SPECIALIST at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia

Job Description:

Under the direction of the AMG Coding Manager, the Charge Entry Specialist duties include review and acceptance of electronic and manual charges generated by Augusta Medical Group encounters. In doing so, the Charge Entry Specialist will review provider documentation to extract data to accurately review and make corrections where needed to CPT and/or ICD-10_CDM codes.

Shift: Day M-F w/ flexibility at month end to meet monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.

Education/Certification Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Certification through AAPC desired but not required (can be obtained on the job)

Experience and Skill Requirements

• 1 year of physician office experience or related functions required


• Knowledge of Microsoft office products required


• Knowledge of hospital and/or practice management EHR systems required


• Knowledge of national correct coding initiatives preferred.


• Understanding clinical documentation and terminology.


• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.


• Ability to managed deadlines and complete projects on time or ahead of schedule


• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions


• Ability to work independently or in a group setting


• Participation in continuing education programs per department guidelines is a must.
