Role Summary

Responsible for participating/driving in the design, development, and administration of Cigna Sales Incentive Compensation programs for the Cigna Pharmacy, Express Scripts and eviCore business functions. Ensure that Sales Incentive Compensation programs reflect the company's rewards philosophy and supports the business strategic objectives. Manage day-to-day-end-to-end activities in support of sales incentive compensation programs, including governance/compliance oversight, financial modeling/reporting, and customer inquiries/counsel. Acts as a liaison and provides thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple business functions, including Sales, Systems/IT, Finance, Underwriting, Human Resources, Legal, and Payroll, etc. Additional responsibilities may include providing Enterprise wide sales incentive compensation reporting and analysis to determine emerging trends and overall effectiveness of compensation plans. Will also serve as a back-up to other Team Members with sales compensation program support for other Cigna business groups.

Responsibilities


  • Partner with key business leadership to understand and identify the sales compensation business needs and drivers and ensuring the plans are aligned with the business strategy.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and counsels management on the Company's Sales Compensation strategy, policies, programs, and communications.

  • Support Serve as advisor in the development of sales incentive programs that are market competitive and performance driven to drive key business initiatives and strategies.

  • Ensure internal equity and external competitiveness of the organization's sales compensation programs through strategic assessment of business environment, competitor comparisons, and understanding of industry best practices.

  • Manages the administration of compensation programs, ensuring base pay and incentive pay are aligned with business objectives and overall organizational goals and strategies.

  • Serves as a sales compensation subject matter expert providing counsel and advice for sales incentive compensation program issues and matters.

  • Evaluates sales compensation role eligibility - analyze job responsibilities, individual role in sales process, requirements and organizational structure and recommend internal job placement in the appropriate career architecture role.

  • Participate in the modeling/forecasting and analysis of sales and compensation data as it relates to products, market penetration, pricing, competition, commission/bonus earnings, etc. to assess effectiveness of sales programs. Present data to management and provide recommendations to improve sales effectiveness and best practices.

  • Provide on-going financial analytics to the finance and sales management teams to evaluate the actual compensation results compared to target and to implement action plans if necessary to drive desired results. Complete compensation projections to support accrual process.

  • Participate and advise in the design, development, implementation and communication of sales incentive compensation plans, programs and policies that provide the proper incentives to drive the appropriate sales behaviors to achieve the intended results.

  • Effectively administer sales incentive compensation plans, including but not limited to plan documentation preparation, dissemination, communication, payment calculations and timely/accurate payroll uploads.

  • Oversee or perform quality control activities to ensure the accurate and timely processing and payment of bi-monthly sales compensation payments and production/distribution of compensation statements.

  • Manage/Oversee approval process and administration of compensation plan exceptions, sales contests, non-cash awards, Gold Circle, etc.

  • Participate in Responsible for governance/approval of job offers to new sales associates, including role SIC eligibility, career architecture, guarantees, draws, etc.

  • Manage to ensure customer service expectations are met, team metrics are achieved and issues/questions from sales/business are resolved completely.

  • Participate and advise in the design, development, administration and reporting of Sales programs such as Gold Circle, Presidents Club, Olympian, etc.

  • Sales Systems Support - Play an active role in the oversight of sales systems initiatives, including assisting with the design, testing and implementation of the sales compensation system and annual plan changes. In addition, participate in sales compensation enterprise system projects to ensure that issues are raised timely; project objectives are met; and communication of issues and status is timely, etc.

Qualifications


  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree; MBA preferred.

  • Minimum 5-8+ years' experience in a sales incentive compensation or related function, preferably within a large, complex and/or matrix organization supporting the design and implementation of sales incentive compensation programs.

  • Compensation or related human resources or finance experience required.

  • Demonstrate ability to form effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external clients and partners.

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, project management, communication, problem solving and consultation skills required.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex information and explain it to others; listen actively; stay focused; identify hidden messages and draw out underlying issues.


  • Ability to communicate complex written information clearly and concisely in formal and informal documents to convey the right message.

  • Highly motivated, organized and results oriented.

  • Demonstrate strong influential leadership, business acumen and savvy.

  • Manage personal and confidential information in an appropriate manner.

  • Experience with compensation administration systems and Workday application programs a plus.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Sales Compensation Professional (CSCP) designation a plus.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $98,200 - $163,600, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
