Opportunity for full-time (40 hours) or part-time (20 hours) per week!
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Under supervision of the Infection Control Unit Director, the Hand Hygiene Specialist conducts the day-to-day operation of the hand hygiene improvement program. Will observe healthcare workers' hand hygiene practice and may provide feedback to staff among all levels of healthcare. Will work closely with the Infection Control Practitioners, providing them with hand hygiene feedback.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs observational surveys of hand hygiene compliance by healthcare workers before and after patient contacts.
Assists Environmental Services with monitoring soap and alcohol product usage.
Consults with and educates healthcare workers about barriers to improvement in hand hygiene compliance and identifies and facilitates solutions to these problems.
Performs surveys of compliance with isolation precautions.
Collaborates with Quality & Patient Safety staff on compliance data.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1 year of directly related work experience within a healthcare environment

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to conduct observational surveillance which requires several hours of continuous standing, walking and potentially climbing stairs. Normal office conditions.
