Job Description:

Summary



Responsible for inspecting and packaging each block of mozzarella cheese in an efficient manner, while meeting customer specifications by performing the following duties:



Duties and Responsibilities




Primary



Rotates through the following positions and performs job duties accordingly:



Rapid Pak Loading



Places blocks of mozzarella in pockets of film.


Monitors the film to ensure it's positioned in grippers at all times.


Assures that the pockets are forming properly.


Inspects block for any extraneous material.


Open leakers / rework when machine is down.


Notifies supervisor of any mechanical issues with the machine.


Assists in machine change over's and jam-ups, assuring proper LOTO policies.


Assures that correct film is being used.


Notifies computer operator of Vat change.


Monitors the cheese flow from the exit conveyor, assuring that there are no jam ups causing cheese to back up and potentially fall on the floor.



Packing Line #6 - RapidPak



Places cheese in totes and boxes.


Inspects each block of cheese by flipping it over and looking for an extraneous material, and assuring good seal integrity. Reworks unacceptable packages back through the Rapid Pak.


Places skids and empty totes on the scale, assuring that the totes are centered and pallets have no protruding screws or nails that could puncture the product.


Assures that the film is centered on package, and the correct boxes and film are being used when packing 6# product.


Assures that the proper code date is legible, and on the package.


Monitors the metal detector, and notifies the Computer Operator / Supervisor of any alarms.


Assists in the opening of unacceptable packages, and clearing jam-ups when machine is down.



Packing Lines #4 & #5 Bulk Pack



Assists in tote staging and placing and opening the snorkel bag, assuring that the bag is centered in the tote.


Flip the blocks as you put in tote and look for extraneous.


Monitors the cheese flow from the exit conveyor, assuring that there are no jam ups causing cheese to back up and potentially fall on the floor.


Monitors the metal detector, and notifies the Computer Operator / Supervisor of any alarms.


Closes the snorkel bag and advances the tote to the snorkel machine.


Operates snorkel machine assuring that the bag has an acceptable seal.


Notifies computer operator of Vat change.



Sanitation (daily sanitation performed on day crews)



Follows our 7 steps of sanitation policy, adhering to all chemical handling procedures, while wearing the appropriate PPE's.

• Assemble


• Pre-Operational Inspection


• Sanitize

Records sanitation actions on the Master Sanitation Sheet / Pre Operational Checklist.


Assists others until all sanitations is complete and satisfactory.



All Stations



Keeps work area clean and orderly. Follows all Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures


Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal, communication, and team skills.


Demonstrates safe and quality conscious work habits and follows all company policies and procedures.


Focuses on Saputo's vision and goals and considers the best interest of Saputo and its employees, customers, and patrons while performing job duties.


Demonstrates professionalism and positively represents and promotes Saputo at all times.


Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.


Employees are responsible for understanding and complying with the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety guidelines to ensure that quality food products are manufactured in a sanitary production environment and delivered with superior protection to our customers and consumers.


Supports Saputo's commitment to preserve the environment by following all established policies and procedures related to such preservation. Reports any identified concerns regarding potential hazards to the environment.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:



High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Language Ability:



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.



Math Ability:



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurement and volume.



Reasoning Ability:



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Constant flipping and lifting of mozzarella weighing 20# at waist height


Constant twisting of the trunk and forward flexion of the trunk at 30 degrees of flexion, lifting 40# waist to floor, waist to waist, and waist to shoulder height.


Grasping and pulling more than 360 times per hour.


Bending, twisting, and pushing 360 times per hour.


Squatting and kneeling 1-32 times per shift


Medium heavy lifting and/or moving


Lifting and/or moving up to 25# up to 1200 times per shift and up to 50# 33-200 times per shift
