We are currently seeking a Payroll Analyst - Experienced at our corporate headquarters in St. Louis, MO.
Reporting to the Manager of Payroll this role will support the end-to-end payroll process for 4,000 employees in the United States and Australia by reviewing and approving payroll processing with our 3rd party service. This individual will also perform reporting, maintenance of pay tables, reconciliation and auditing and other functions to support Peabody's payroll function.
Duties will include:
Work directly with outsourcing vendor to provide governance/direction/assistance on company policies and procedures with regards to payroll processing as well as all US and AU miscellaneous employee programs.
Ensure that outsourcer is accurately and timely executing payroll processes that are in compliance with company policy and federal and/or state legislation
Review/reconcile/approve all payrolls processed by outsourcer including but not limited to gross to net, taxes, outgoing file transmission (i.e. bank files, GL files, deduction files).
Ensures compliance with Peabody policies, regulations, wage and tax laws, segregation of duties, SOX and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll.
Communicate accurately and effectively regarding payroll processes and calculations to employees and outside vendors.
Administers garnishments and partners with 3rd party (ADP) to ensure garnishments are processed accurately and timely.
Responsible for compliance with the internal controls over pay
Assists with Year-End payroll processing activities.
Evaluate processes in place on an ongoing basis and provide input to management team and outside vendor on improvements that will drive efficiencies and potential cost reductions.
Assist with system validation with regards to upgrades and new software implementations.
Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects; act as project manager for special projects as requested.
Communicate clearly with understanding and empathy.
Foster relationships with customers and build knowledge.
Supports business process strategies for end-to-end Payroll processes to achieve efficiency, productivity and improved control.
Acts as a subject matter expert for researching, troubleshooting and resolving payroll integration and production issues, applying leading practices and ensuring long-standing solutions.
Works closely with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot, configure, test and implement efficient system solutions.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

About you:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting or Business preferred
3-5 years payroll experience required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel required
CPP certification desired
SAP, Workday payroll module experience
Strong understanding of Gross to Net pay calculation
Knowledge of payroll methods, touch points, end-to-end processing steps, and best practices; up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
Experience with system upgrades or implementations a plus.
Hands-on experience with multi-state, multi-company and/or global payroll.
Critical thinking skills to investigate and resolve issues.
Ability to work in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve.
Must maintain confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy.
Ability to communicate with all level of employees in a professional and collaborative manner
Exceptional organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, thrive in a fast-paced industry and office atmosphere, and possess advanced problem-solving capability
Good industry acumen and process knowledge
Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize data

Strong attention to detail for accuracy in performing data entry and paperwork processing

Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to perform office related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
Must be able to use a computer
