We are looking for a Senior Buyer/Planner for our headquarters in greater Kansas City. In this role you will be responsible for developing and managing the acquisition, execution, and life-cycle of complex products/services.
Responsibilities
Understand the various needs, strategies, and objectives of internal customers and provide supply-chain leadership among associates and suppliers
Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Commodity Teams to develop new sources of supply in support of products
Support other Garmin sites, as requested, in supply development and management of assigned commodities
Provide excellent customer service by fostering open communication among Garmin teams and associates, act as liaison with suppliers, and develop and manage supplier relationships in support of Garmin’s mission statement
Manage the planning, ordering and delivery of various components, products and services to ensure on-time delivery across all levels of the organization
Closely monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities and products to maximize inventory turns and minimize exposure to obsolescence
Review, analyze, develop and negotiate multiple procurement contracts in support of Garmin’s Master Production Schedule (MPS)
Prepare cost price analysis for various supplier agreements and projects
Review and compile inventory costing records, such as Purchase Price Variance (PPV), scrap and rework costs
Participate in audits performed by Garmin customers or government officials and coordinate data and information required for audit
Knowledge of department processes and procedures, work instructions and training requirements for the Purchasing Department in support of ISO9000/QS9000, environmental programs, international trade compliance, ITAR, and FAA requirements for supply management
Continued improvement to ensure departmental goals and metrics are met
Mentor assigned procurement personnel in support of departmental training, work instructions, processes, and procedures
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from a four year college or university AND 5 years experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description OR Associates degree and 7 years experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description OR 9 years combined education and experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description
Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills
Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
Must have a demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines with uncompromising ethics
Must possess demonstrated knowledgeable of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) process
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to asses supplier capabilities
Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Must possess previous technical knowledge in assigned commodities
Must demonstrate a have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines
Must process strong knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to asses supplier capabilities
Desired Qualifications
Experience in an electronics or discrete manufacturing environment
Masters degree preferred
Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
Experience in dealing with government compliance of supply programs, such as FAA compliance
Previous supervisory or team facilitator experience
