Director of Payroll Operations (National)

The Director, Payroll Operations is responsible for the oversight and day to day management of payroll operations for our multi-state, multi-location organization. We are looking for a strong Payroll leader with evolved process improvement, communication, and managerial skills to oversee a national scope.

Job Responsibilities/Duties


  • Manages day to day operations of payroll, including leading implementation of process changes, process improvements and best practices to drive operational excellence
  • Collaborates with national and regional Human Resource and IT departments to ensure data integrity and that automated interfaces are working effectively
  • Ensures highest level of customer service delivery by regional Payroll teams
  • Involvement in the development of the Regional Payroll Leaders, including responsibility for making staffing decisions on hiring, discipline, transfer, advancement and promotion in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Establishes and oversees processes and procedures for routine and special payroll processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements
  • Oversee regional payroll calculations and confirms accurate processing of payroll
  • Provides oversight of time and attendance processes and systems to ensure the system captures all proper calculations unique to business group needs
  • Manages bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reconciliations and drives solutions for any discrepancies
  • Supports quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, including the coordination of W-2 filing across all entities
  • Develops, maintains, and communicates organization-wide payroll policies and processes regarding earnings, deductions, time keeping, and government compliance reporting
  • Partner with the Production Support team to develop, maintain and troubleshoot payroll and HCM related issues
  • Manage and facilitate all audit requests
  • Proactively works to identify process improvements and gaps and implement solutions
  • Spearheads and facilitates payroll system implementation and migration as a Project Lead
  • Serve as a subject matter expert. Provides support to executive staff on complex payroll queries, additional withholding.
  • Manages the payroll and tax process for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or experience equivalent.

Minimum Experience: Seven to ten (7-10) Years of payroll experience with at least five (5) years of leadership experience. Hospital/Healthcare Experience preferred. Previous experience managing payroll for a large multi-state organization of 5,000+ employees. Risk management, cost control and project planning skills. Experience leading other Payroll leaders. Proven track record of process improvements. Previous experience leading payroll technology implementations. Experience leading payroll in a complex environment and/or 24-hour operation. Oracle HCM Cloud and Ceridian experience (Preferred).
