Metrology Technician at Gwynedd Manufacturing Inc. in North Wales, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

The Metrology Technician is responsible for reviewing the current methods and recommending new approaches to be used to measure quality characteristics on existing and proposed components. These measuring systems would be used during Product Development, First Article Inspection and In-process manufacturing of components to make sure they meet company and customer requirements. Duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, sharing and explaining results with the Operations and Quality group, Manufacturing & Design Engineering. This role requires understanding of prints, GD&T principles, and various contact and non-contact measurement methods to discern part/product quality.

• Program, operate and train others on programmable inspection devices, ex. CMM and Keyence systems.


• Look for opportunities to propose alternate gauging methods to ensure parts conform to all stated requirements from the process or operation just completed. Methods strive to be simple and efficient, while accurate.


• Develop and perform gage R&R studies, analyze data and share with those interested in the results.


• Provide measurement support for investigations of manufacturing issues and development work.


• Be a back-up for the Gage Calibration Technician.

• A.S. degree in a Technical or Engineering related field.


• Qualified CMM operator


• Well-developed written and oral communication capabilities.


• More than 3 years as an inspector or quality assurance employee in a manufacturing environment.
