Summary:

Provide engineering support for the design, development, and testing for FBDs projects. Includes determining project scope to establish timelines and release of any new features and technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create and maintain all new unit firmware and all part numbers for production.

  • Develop and/or modify firmware to support new hardware or electronics. New hardware includes 77x add-on board serial comms, sensors, ICs, and keypads.

  • Firmware support for updates and special requests for legacy hardware (152/156x) in freeing markets.

  • Maintain, validate, and regularly review FBDs unit source code.

  • Develop, validate and/or modify frozen beverage profiles for unit new hardware configurations or customer requests.

  • Support other departments with firmware, test fixture firmware/software and documentation.

  • Create, improve, and maintain test procedures and plans for validating firmware or features for release to market.

  • Create and maintain all documentation for development or improvements in features, development processes, and testing.

  • Determine the project scope and tasks to establish a project timeline.

  • Other responsibilities as needed and assigned by Engineering manager.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field required.

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience working in an embedded systems environment.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and knowledge of Linux operating systems, IAR, Jira, Visual Studio, C, C++,C# , PyCharm, UART, SPI and 12C protocols.

  • Must be able to read circuit schematics.

  • Experience with refrigeration hardware, product trays, frozen beverage profile development and PID controllers preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication skills because of daily contact with internal employees and suppliers.


  • Must communicate in a clear and concise manner, have good listening skills, be aware of tone of voice and messages, be friendly, be confident, show empathy, be respectful, select the right channel of communication and possess emotional intelligence.


  • Must be fluent in English which includes reading: the ability to read and understand words written in English, writing: the ability to formulate written words in English, comprehending: the ability to follow and understand speech in English and speaking: the ability to produce speech in English and be understood.

  • Must possess good language and reading skills such as reading detailed manuals, writing detailed and complex emails, summaries and reports.

  • Must possess math skills such as algebra and geometry, including linear and quadratic equations, logarithmic functions, and axiomatic geometry.

  • Must possess project management skills such as project planning, project execution and project monitoring/control.

  • Must possess good writing skills with the ability to write and create detailed emails, letters, standard operating procedures, detailed project, or reports.

  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and a reference check.

  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include having to hear and communicate over the phone and in person in a noising environment and having to hear alarms and bells in manufacturing areas.
