Job Description:

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - AUSTIN, TX

This entry level role will be a key part of an engineering team developing new 3D printers. Their primary function is to work directly with the engineering team to perform hands on tasks related with 3D printers and to create mechanical designs & drawings. This role will also include a wide range of mechanical engineering activities from simulation (i.e. FEA/CFD), prototype assembly, machine operation and data collection.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work directly with R&D engineers/scientists to build and troubleshoot equipment.

• Provide serviceability and ergonomic feedback.

• Develop, communicate and document ME designs and required processes. Help ensure documentation is thorough and complete and identifies design attributes that are critical to quality.

• Accountable for the delivery of the ME deliverables on time, within budget and meeting quality expectations.

• Collaborate with the contract manufacture or 3DS manufacturing site to help ensure a successful product ramp.

• Cross-discipline collaboration: Partner with Electrical Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Software Engineers, Print Process Engineers to ensure a successful outcome.

• Perform process engineering studies as required and communicate results as appropriate.Education and Training:

• BS in Engineering/ME or equivalent is required

Experience:

• 0 - 3 years' experience in a relevant discipline

• Internships or relevant work-related experience acceptable

• Proven "can do" mind set: Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver results.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Willingly to "get their hands dirty" while building or trouble shooting equipment

• Ability to formulate solid conclusions with minimal supervision

• Design experience of mechanical systems

• Ability to communicate design intent in formal presentations

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical literature

• Strong analytical skills to work on problems of diverse scope

• Ability to work with suppliers to develop requirements within challenging time constraints

• Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, SolidWorks & ANSYS (Preferred but not necessary)

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

• High level of attention to detail

• He/she should also have an outstanding academic record in his/her discipline
