We have an energizing opportunity for a full-time Packaging Process Operator position located in Lenexa and Overland Park, Kansas.  The position has the opportunity for growth and development through process improvement opportunities and new product development. 

The packaging operator for solid dose packaging will be involved in both automated and manual dose packaging operations for animal health products following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

Specific activities for this operator will be a combination of the following, based on experience and interest.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Packaging, Logistics, or Manufacturing experience in a regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Nuclear, or other) and/or Quality background

  • Manual labor is involved; lifting up-to 50 pounds may be necessary.

  • Mechanical aptitude is helpful for setup and operating of equipment.

  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and be able to comply and follow all gowning requirements (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, uniform, disposable gowning, steel-toed shoes, dust mask and full loose fitting Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) hoods; must obtain fit testing and medical clearance for mask and hood).

  • Maintain positive attitude toward customers and colleagues. Accept and give feedback in a positive manner.

  • Applicants should be capable of working with minimum supervision, have good communication skills and be detail oriented. 

  • Applicants must be proficient in reading and understanding detailed instructions and is able to perform arithmetic calculations. 

  • Applicants must also be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on a routine basis and operate within Safe Ergonomic Guidelines.  The position requires continual standing, lifting, pulling, and use of extremities. 

  • All candidates must provide personal and professional references. 

  • Candidates should have no attendance or disciplinary actions pending in their current employment situation. 

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

  • The amount of Overtime (OT) varies by area (department) and individual role.  It is neither consistent nor regular.  It will fluctuate between 0% to more than 20% over the calendar year.

Preferred:

  • Associates degree or formal technical training.

  • 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

  • 30 min lunch

  • Two 15 min breaks

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Packaging:


  • Adhere to Safety, Quality, and all other applicable company, site and departmental procedures, policies, practices, and goals. 

  • Follow processing instructions according to the packaging batch records.

  • Setup, operate, calibrate, and clean packaging equipment; maintain clean work areas and perform general housekeeping tasks. 

  • Demonstrate technical and problem-solving skills. Must have good attention to detail and be able to follow written and verbal directions.

  • Participates in departmental quality initiatives: Adhere to cGMP guidelines all process activities.  

  • Constantly monitor product quality. Check and verify processing steps during packaging. Consistently demonstrate good documentation practices.

  • Follow proper documentation and verification guidelines as they apply to all processing documents, e.g., batch production records, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)'s, equipment log sheets, and sample submission.

  • Preparing GMP documentation, reconciling packaging materials, and working with supply chain to maintain material availability.

  • Filling finished product into packaging, either through manual operation or with automated packaging machine.

  • Use of a Human Machine Interface (HMI) to operate automated packaging line and maintain product throughput.

  • Finish packaging, move inventory between process areas.

  • Complete reconciliation of batch materials and complete documentation.

Process Improvement:

  • Strong process team focus to drive continuous improvement.  Identify opportunities and obtain technical buy-in for improvements.

Safety:

  • Actively participate in safety vigilance and safety improvement programs.

Teamwork Excellence:


  • Active participation in a team environment. Flexible and will assist others in the work group in a proactive manner. Participate in process team and departmental meetings.

  • Recognize and communicate process improvements and problems to team members (peers, supervision, maintenance, and technical support).

  • Suggest and implement departmental safety improvements while incorporating safety into daily activities.

  • Operator is expected to recognize a problem, troubleshoot, and support the team in collecting data to determine root cause.
